IVF Success Rates at your clinic??

Postby beccam28 » Wed Nov 11, 2015 9:42 am

Hi everyone,
My husband and I are debating on skipping IUI and going straight to IVF. My clinic's success rates are 76% for women under age 35. Can you all chime in and tell me what success rates you've seen at your RE's offices? I am looking around at other clinics to make sure I have the best chance of success.
I live in Danville, KY, and go to Bluegrass Fertility. Their website even speaks to this success rate for women under 35 with a BMI under 25. It seems like this is a really high success rate. I don't know if I can trust the number.

Hi Beccam28 -- I went to their website, and it looks like they use 2015 data, so they don't yet know the live birth rate, hence it differs from what is published in the Center for Disease Control's 2013 ART Clinic Success Rate Report ("This pregnancy information is different from that listed on the Center for Disease Control (CDC) site in that it is the most current year.") CDC Report: ftp://ftp.cdc.gov/pub/Publications/art/ ... t-Full.pdf

Bluegrass notes that "[t]he pregnancy rate and miscarriage rate is based on the presence of cardiac activity at the 6.5 week obstetrical ultrasound," but I'd assume you would want to know live birth rate for a prior year. The CDC defines live birth rate as "Live births are defined as term if at least 37 full weeks gestation and normal birth weight if at least 2,500 grams (approximately 5 pounds, 8 ounces)." According to the CDC Report, for Fresh Transfers for women under 35, Bluegrass did 61 transfer in 2013, of which 50% resulted in live births. Of the 29 FET cycles for women under 35, 37.9% resulted in live births.

That isn't to say that the clinic is a bad choice! It just seems like the 76% might be a bit high because not all of those 6.5 heartbeats will result in healthy, live babies. I'd look at the CDC report or SART when making your decision. Hope this helps deciphering some of the data!

Oh my gosh, this is incredibly helpful!!! Thank you SO much! I was able to compare the clinic I am going to, to other ones in the state, and it at least seems that they are higher than some of the others. I am still terrified!

I noticed we are the same age, with exactly the same reproductive issues. I see you are in the middle of IVF! Good luck to you... praying you get your BFP and a healthy baby with this cycle.

Thank you again for your help :)

Best of luck beccam28! I just did my first transfer yesterday, so officially in the TWW. I am by no means an expert, but if you ever have any questions or want to vent or whatever, don't hesitate to send me a message. Can't wait to hear about your journey!
