March 2016 IVF

Postby bunny123 » Mon Feb 08, 2016 11:50 am

Are there any other ladies planning on doing an IVF cycle March 2016?

I'm 31 (32 in March!) and my husband is also 31. We have been TTC for 27 cycles now and decided to move forward with IVF. I've spoken to two REs and decided on the one that will hopefully help me get my first BFP! My periods are regular, but we have male factor. Dr. said that if we worked on his swimmers, we might be pregnant later this year, but there is no guarantee. Last year, DH was on clomid for 6 months and while his number improved, still no BFP.

I'M NERVOUS! IVF is so much money and the idea of all of the needles, tests, and procedures really scares me. It would be really helpful to have a few buddies to track progress with!

We decided to go all out with genetic testing and everything... looking like it will be a whopping 20k. Praying it will work out the first time. AF scheduled to arrive end of this week... then onto BC and blood tests/sonohysterogram. Then IVF mid march. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH :omg:

Hey Bunny! I recently just did my first IVF cycle, my egg retrieval was Feb. 3rd. I ended up ovulating before my ER (only like a 1-1.5% of happening so don't freak out) I just have that kinda luck! lol anyways there was still one egg left that wasn't as mature as the other ones so it hadn't ovulated yet! I just got the news yesterday that it made it to freeze!! WHOOOHOO! She had us BD the night of my retrieval in hopes of maybe catching one of the 5 eggs I released (I was a low responder) so I have my beta on Sunday. We too are MFI so I'm not exactly counting on it although in a perfect world I would get pregnant "naturally" this cycle and still have my snow baby for the future! If it's negative I'll do FET in March. Please please ask me any questions! Now having gone through it hopefully I can answer any you have!

I'm sorry you have to pay out of pocket! UGH that sucks! but hopefully you just have to do it once :) Statistics are on your side!

Hi Ladies,

I am still part of an amazing IVF board from 2015, it has been extremely successful and only three of us are yet to get lucky. I'm about to start my next round of IVF and I'd love some more ladies to cycle with on this journey.

Most of my info is in my siggy, we too are MFI and are paying out of pocket for everything. I'm English living in Germany and luckily IVF treatment is a little more affordable here. The whole thing including freezing cost us just under 6k Euros last year. Still money I'd rather not be spending.

We have a three year old daughter who took 3 years to conceive, following removal of a cyst and my tubes being flushed through, I fell pregnant naturally 3 months later. The best miracle in the world. We've been trying for no.2 since July 2013, multiple failed IUI's, failed IVF and I never made it FET as all remaining embryos arrested day of transfer. I found the whole journey incredibly hard and we decided to take a break, emotionally and financially.

I'm feeling so excited to be going into this again, somehow I feel different to the first time and perhaps that's because I know what to expect and so I'm more relaxed about the whole thing.

Today I had an Endometrial scratch, read lots of positive stuff on that. It's commonly offered by most clinics after a failed cycle, it certainly can't hurt.
AF due on the 22 Feb and stims will start 2-3 days later for about 3 weeks. I'm doing a short protocol, no BCP. We will be doing IVF with ICSI and hopefully transfer will be just before Easter.

Bunny - I know this is so overwhelming first time around, a lot of information to get your head around. The hardest part for me was the first injection, it took me 20 min to do myself (DH was out of town), but I tell you it gets MUCH easier and we will be here to support you. As Tj said, any questions please just ask.

Tj - Hoping you catch one of those eggies! Perhaps you wont be so unlucky. Congrats on getting the one embryo to freeze, that's amazing.

Hi TJ, how exciting for you, 29th will soon be here. I don't know Lupron as I've only ever done natural, short cycles. So no BCP or Lupron.

I think my ER will be just over a weeks time and then hopefully we get to grow to 5 days if we're lucky.

Good to have another buddy through this treacherous roller coaster :D

Hi Mama and TJ! So great to have some company during this process!

I've been on Lupron for the past 5 days (this morning was my 6th shot). Yesterday was my last day of BCP and I go in for my first ultrasound on Thursday.

Turns out the shots are not that bad. I actually don't mind them at all so far. Haven't done the scary long needle in the butt yet, but I'm sure it'll be okay too. That initial "fear" is gone, I must say.

I am also not a fan of Lupron. I'm not sure if it is the medication or the BCPs, but I've been feeling dizzy and nauseous at times. I start to stim 3/6. Hoping all goes well! ER will be 3/17 and embryos are scheduled to be put back 3/23.

I asked the nurse and she says that I won't get my first blood test until 12 days after embryo transfer... and she says I shouldn't POAS. Is this normal?? I've been watching a bunch of youtube videos and it looks like a lot of people have their first blood test 7 or 10 days passed transfer. How many days do they say for your clinic?

Good luck to you both! Please keep us updated on the progress. =)

Hi Bunny - pleased you're finding the shots easy, once you get pas the first one it's really not that bad. My clinic only does the blood test at 15 days post transfer! I bought a load of IC's so I can test out the trigger and hopefully watch for the second line progressing.I'd rather know as 15 days is just too long to wait and of I'm not successful, I'm likely to get AF anyway before then, despite the Progesterone!

Had a monitoring app this morning. I have 14 good size follies ranging btwn 10-15 in size with lots of smaller ones too. So the doc thinks ER will be on Monday :omg: I have another scan on Friday morning and then all will be confirmed.

Hi everyone!

So good to read about others going through the same process! I started stimming on Feb 19th for my second cycle. I had my ER yesterday and am feeling very very nervous this time around. I was told today they were able to retrieve 13 eggs, 8 of which were mature and as of today, 4 have made it to embryo stage. This is twice as many as I had during my first cycle which is good but still feels like such a low number.

My transfer is currently scheduled for Saturday (3 day transfer), but depending on how well the embies get on, may move to Monday (5 day transfer). Realised if I am this impatient and nervous waiting for egg transfer, god only knows what the TWW will be like!

I haven't changed my stimming protocol but have started taking some blood thinners (Clexane and Prednisolone) this time during my luneal phase to help with implantation. Also thinking about assisted hatching. I am convinced my first cycle was not successful due to implantation. Everything else looked perfect!

Just wish I had some of the excitment from my first cycle but am just more worried and stressed this time. Really just want this to work this time!

Welcome Stacy and well done for getting through your ER already. For me the wait for embryo progress was the hardest part and I'll pray for your 4 little ones to grow strong.

My clinic will only do a 5 day transfer with a minimum of 6 embryos, so I may not get the choice to wait it out. I do understand your feelings second time round. I went into my first round quite naive and was crushed with the failure in the process. This time, rather than worry that my embryos won't be good enough, I'm just going with the flow knowing I'm doing all I can to make this work. I'm still prepared for it not working but I'm choosing not to think about it... We can't change the outcome.

Best of luck to you and please keep us updated on your progress :hugs:
