Thanks ladies! Did any of you gain weight during stims? I know there's the bloating but I'm now 4 days out and still super fat. I don't know if it's bloat or I just gained a ton of weight which would be adding insult to injury if that's the case. I feel like my appetite is crazy tho so maybe I did just gain weight!

Hi keep! I remember you from the December thread :).

We hear back tomorrow if any made it to day 5 ugh this day can't go any slower....

Well the doctor already called and the bad news is 9 aren't looking good - either not growing or fragmented. Good news is we have 3 fighters and are 8 cell grade 4 on day 3. So actually we have to wait until Wednesday to see if they've become blasts and can freeze. Fx!

Hi Ladies,

Looks like I fit right in here...I'm 38 and preparing for my first IVF.
Had 4 unsuccessful IUIs late last year and a break from TTC since. Follow up on our plan with RE in FEB 2017 where we discussed the very long - year to a year and a half wait list for government funded IVF to very recently getting the news that we are scheduled for JUNE 2017. Which is very exciting news. I'm starting the research and would welcome input, support, suggestions.

Anyone here complete a government funded IVF cycle in Ontario with input, information, suggestions.
I'm curious if there is a restriction on the number of embryo transfers permitted.

Hope everyone is having a fabulous day. xo

I wish there were something like that here in the US. Our insurance doesn't cover IVF so we are 100% out of pocket. We took out a loan for 25K, used most of that for our first IVF, and are now in our second cycle.

Hi SweetPBnut, welcome. I'm from Ontario and just went through a gov-funded IVF cycle. I'm still going through it I guess. We had to freeze my eggs (which was unforeseen and the related costs are NOT covered by OHIP). To my knowledge the number of FETs included is unlimited. I ended up with 9 frozen eggs. Any embryos that result from those eggs and any consequent FETs of embryos are covered. ICSI is optional and covered if you need it, want it, or plan on doing genetic testing. I didn't want to do ICSI originally but since they had to freeze my eggs, I will have to do ICSI to fertilize the eggs when they are thawed. Luckily, that part of the cost will be covered. PM me if you have any other questions and good luck!

Yellow, how are you doing? Still on track for an FET at the end of April? I'm waiting for my next day 1 (should be any day now) so that I can prep for FET. I'm not excited yet but I will be once things start rolling...

Hope everyone is doing well and keeping the hope alive :)

Hey Panda! I'm 38 and in Ontario too. How long did you have to wait for government funded ivf? I was told the wait time is two years and I can't see that being a good idea at my age.

banana 78- Have you thought about undergoing ivf abroad? Same high success rates, but more pocket-friendly. I came across lots of posts and a few blogs of ladies who have undergone ivf abroad. Just an example: https://burkebarr.wordpress.com/

I imagine I'd need an unpredictable and large amount of time off work to pull off an international ivf. I don't really want to pay $10,000 but... I will! :)

banana, I originally got placed on the list in late June 2016 for May 2017!!!!! Almost a year out. However, I got a call around Christmas time letting me know that if I wished to start sooner, they could start prepping me in January. I had to make an appointment to see my doctor first and then she gave the green light. By the time I had my ER it was March 3. So it looks like the waiting list sometimes moves along a bit quicker.

I have to mention that the size of the waiting list depends entirely on the clinic. I went for a second opinion at another Toronto clinic in late August of 2016 and they said they had no waiting list and could take me right away. But I hated the doctor and the clinic, it had a very factory farm feel to it. My original clinic is Mt. Sinai, I love it there. I can't say enough good things about it. But I think the waiting list is close to 2 years at this point... The second clinic I went to where there was no waiting list was CREATE.

If you're willing to pay for IVF, I don't see the point of going international.... In my research (which was very superficial and not extensive) and from what I've read in online forums, the savings aren't that significant. I'd rather spend 1-2K more and get it done at home without the hassle of traveling, etc. That's just me tho...
