Hey Everyone,

OMG KYLEE!!! That's such great news! I can't wait to hear your betas on Thursday!!! EEE!!!

Just spent the last 10 minutes crying. The next week or so is going to be really tough.

Got a call from my RE on the timing of my trigger tonight. We are moving forward with the egg retrieval ( THANK GOD ), but I've developed OHSS. :( Wasn't I just telling y'all yesterday how crap I was feeling? My Estradiol lvl went up to 3,371 from 1,930 in just over 24 hours. (sigh) We got greedy and ended up over-stimming me. I ended up having to do ONE MORE GANIRELIX this morning to stop me from ovulating. Y'all know how much I LOVE THOSE SHOTS.

My egg retrieval is set for 10am on Wednesday, and then I get to start Cabergoline (to stop me from getting super sick from OHSS) and Zofran (for nausea). If I was doing a fresh cycle, it would have been canceled. Thank goodness I was mentally prepared to wait a month. I've only been waiting 11 years, what's another month, right?

FML.

Just looked up the side effects of Cabergoline (the OHSS drug).

Evidently, along with dizziness, vomiting, and hallucinating, I'm going to start gambling and become a nymphomaniac. I should tell my Dr. when this occurs, I'm sure she'll find this development a hoot.

Sounds like a great time. I'm all signed up. Excellent.

Crumpet good luck today!
Kylee congratulations.
Rosy my levels were over 5000 a few days before the retrieval and the ohss was very, very mild,i triggered with a non hcg shot and i started a high protein diet before the retrieval and lots of Gatorade. Those helped a lot but i think Whta really helped was the non hcg trigger.
I had over 20 follies,I ended up with 22 retrieved and 19mature ones.

Crumpet: How did everything go? How are you feeling?

Rosy: lol. Gambling nymphomaniac. That is hilarious. The side effects of medications get more and more interesting. All in the name pf our lovely BFP's though. Is the medication at least helping?

Danaa: That is an awesome retrieval. When do you expect transfer. How are you feeling?

AFM: Exhaustion is the key word. So tired and I must have a nap in the middle of the day. Nausea, crampy and cant do too much walking already due to the bloating. I already look 3 months pregnant. My boobs are sore of and on and very heavy. It is all very welcome though. My fingers are crossed for a great beta on Thursday. Then i feel like I can rest easy. Talk to you ladies soon!

Kylee -- wonderful news! Have you had your first betas yet? I'm so happy for you! Are you doing progesterone shots?

Rosy -- Yikes. That doesn't sound like fun at all. How did the retrieval go?

AFM -- The retrieval went well, although my recovery has been more difficult this time than last time. Apparently its because I had some very large mature eggs as well as quite a few smaller ones that were not mature. We now have 6 fertilized embryos who are now doing their best to grow. We'll know how many survived and can go in for PGS next week. We had a smaller retrieval than some of the rest of you -- both because I have a conservative clinic and because of my DOR. I'm content with 6. We just need one of those 6 to come back normal so that we can happily more forward with our transfer. Fingers crossed for a July transfer!

Hey Everyone,

Wow, so I'm alive. On a lot of drugs, but conscious. I don't like opiates - they always make me feel nauseated and loopy. Yesterday was overwhelming. I don't remember much except that my egg retrieval happened and I somehow made it home and onto the couch. My SO was telling me about all the crazy things I was talking about and all the things that happened and all the people that called to check on me. I don't remember any of it. We also watched two movies late last night after I woke up the 2nd time and I barely remember that. So weird, losing time like that. Way bizarro.

I feel oddly empty and anxious. Like I've lost something in a dream and can't find it. :|

I spoke with my RE today. We had 23 follicles total going in. We retrieved 20 eggs, but only 13 were mature. As of this morning (Day 1) 9 of them were successfully fertilized by ICSI. I'll get another update on them on Saturday (Day 3) and another on Monday (Day 5). Hopefully we won't suffer much attrition and have 8 healthy blastocysts to send for PGS. I'll get those results on July 11th and we'll discuss what to do from there.

Crumpet - we be on the same boat, me hearty. Yahar.

Kylee - CRIKEY! Look at that beauty of a BFP! Best wishes for you and your little one!

Danaa - Over 5000? Wow! Okay, so that makes me feel a bit better. They didn't test my Estradiol levels yesterday morning, so they mustn't of been too worried. I seem to be faring well enough - no rapid weight gain and the bloating remains the same as before. Hopefully it's just mild OHSS and we can just sail on through this.

Hallo,

OHSS update - Yep, I have a mild version of it. Over the last few days I've gained about 15 pounds of water weight (imagine about 4 2-liters of soda) in my abdomen. It looks like I'm 5 months pregnant. Breathing is hard, bending over is harder, and I've resorted to sweat pants and tanks in this 102* heat wave. The good news is that last night I started diuresing (dumping all the water) and was up 3 times during the night with a ridiculously full bladder. I'm on the mend. My RE says I should start to feel better and be fully healed up within the next four days or so. ::sigh::

Embryo Day 3 update - We still have 9 embryos alive and thriving! My RE says 1 is exceptional and already at a morula stage, 4 are very good to excellent, and 4 are average. We are very hopeful that we'll have at least 5 little ones to send for PGS testing. The embryologist says that my eggs are B-E-A-U-tiful and that the 67% fertilization rate and the 4 "average" embryos are the result of poor quality sperm. He said the morphology of them was terrible. Even though he had thousands to choose from, they all looked crap. He chose the best looking ones for ICSI, and only 9 out of 13 healthy, beautiful, eggs fertilized. Bummer.

Kylee - your betas are a bit high for a singleton at 14dpo (which is where you are in your actual cycle). I know you only transferred one embryo, so the chances of identical twins is like 1 in 248 (or like 2% chance). But it did happen to me in 2006. I had two eggs transferred, one egg stuck, then split into MOMO twin girls.

Looking forward to updates from everyone else. I'll have more info tomorrow on the embryos, aka Little Rosies.

::crickets chirping::

Seems like everybody's pretty busy in this group. Oh well, if people keep looking, I'll keep posting. Hopefully someone out there gets something from this, and maybe they'll join us.

Day 5 embryo update: We have 1 3BB blast that was biopsied and frozen this morning. Yey! We have four early blasts, 3 morulas, and 1 less-than-morula-but-more-than-8-cells. The embryologist said that the 4 early blasts have a 50/50 chance each of developing into something usable. In regards to the morulas, it would be a miracle if they progressed far enough to be of use, but she's seen it in the past. The tiniest one is not going to make it. All 9 of them were still happy and growing as of this morning. I'll get another update tomorrow as to what they all progress to.

Cheers everyone,
Rosie

Hi Rosy:

It is pretty quiet. I hope everyone is doing well. So glad to see your embabies progressing. How earlt will you get to transfer? How is the OHHS? Have you released all the excess fluid? Good to hear that uou will be better shortly. I keep coming back so we can definitely update each other and whomever wants to join in.

AFM: 4w5 and feeling every bit of the higher hcg levels. Lol. Im sure some of it is the estrogen and progesterone but I dont remember feeling like this so early with my daughter and my betas with her were about half. Tired, hungry and very bloated. Ive decided to stop worrying about what could happen regarding miscarriage and chemicals and just decided to enjoy being pregnant. It's so easy to get consummed by the negative thoughts and I dont want to lose out on the joy of being pregnant scared that it's ending everyday. So here's to remaining positive.

Hey everyone,

OHSS Update: Man, this sucks. Still diuresing (dumping all the water) and up several times a night. Still nauseated and bloated. It's been 9 days since my retrieval and though better than I was, I'm still not feeling anywhere near normal.

Embryo Day 6 update: Yeah, I'm a few days late to update. Still trying to accept that only two more embryos made it to testing and freeze. I was really hoping all early blasts would make it. We've got a 4BB and a 3B-B- (along with the 3BB from Day 5) heading out for testing. We did have a 3CC, but they don't freeze those. I should get PGS results back by next Friday at the latest. Then my RE will discuss transfer options with me. She says there are 4,5, and 7 week protocols and that she'll go into the differences when we see the PGS results.

I'm having a hard time not feeling defeated. After it's all said and done (20 eggs retrieved, 13 mature, and 9 fertilized), I've got 3 embryos with a 60% chance of each of them being normal. I've got a 95% successful thaw rate. I've got a 60% conception rate. With PGS, it's a 10% miscarriage rate. That means, statistically, my chance of getting a healthy embryo is 2 out of 3. My chance of getting pregnant is 1 out of 2. This is thinking positively. It's a very real possibility that none of my eggs are healthy, or if they are, that they won't implant. Then, even though they are genetically perfect eggs, there is still the chance that I'll have a miscarriage because my body won't cooperate. I feel like I just spent $20K on a 1 in 6 chance of bringing home a baby. I'm disappointed in my body. I'm disappointed about things out of my control. I'm not a religious person or a person of faith. I am a person of science. I'm having trouble being optimistic with these odds.

Kylee - Glad to hear everything is going well. The nurse at my RE's office said to me, "Don't stress about things that are out of your control because you'll either be doubly stressed or stressed for no reason." I laughed in response. While I agree with her, in this high stakes game one can not honestly expect us to NOT WORRY. Everyone could benefit from trying to stress less. Glad you are making an effort. In regards to the OHSS, it sucks. My hormones are all over the place and I'm a mess. My RE says that if everything turns out in our favor, we will be looking at an early to mid August for an FET.
