IVF newbies 2017

Postby BethH » Sun Aug 13, 2017 4:35 pm

Hello ladies,
I'm Beth and I would love to connect with ladies that will be starting IVF this year. In short, my husband and I have been ttc since January 2016 with all BFNs. Our testing to date shows:
Me: low AMH (10 when it should be above 16), normal AFC/FSH but luteal phase spotting & randomly short cycle lengths (22-31 days) suggest both low ovarian reserve and possible poor quality "You might not have as many eggs left and you may have already used your best ones"
DH: good SA, low morphology and inflammatory cells (re tested, awaiting results)
We met with a new RE and she suggested we seriously consider IVF.
I live in Canada in a province where there is no funding, so we are looking at paying for this ourselves. My insurance does NOT cover fertility medications.
We're in a lot of debt as it is, and the only way we can do this is to add to our debt. We're looking at $15,00 CAD ($11,800 USD).
Right now I am most hung up on the financial aspect. Today is a particularly hard day, not sure why, but probably feeling low because my pre menstrual spotting has started.
Could really use some input from the community :)
TTC #1 since January 2016!
Me (29): probable diminished ovarian reserve
DH (30): slightly low morphology
IVF#1 micro dose lupron Sep/Oct 2017 - pregnant!

Hi Ladies!
I just want to post here to give you my take on IVF and empower you for what's to come.
Mglupe- I know your from last year, I've done 4IUIs that failed. I was unexplained infertility with NONE of the targets to fix as all was great. I took 3 mths break after those IUIs for my body to rest. We need that time. We can't force our bodies to take hormones month after month. It was best decision ever.

In January 2017 I stared my IVF. Finances was major aspect and only one that would stop us. I started meds in March 2017 and had egg retrieval in mid April. We were advised to proceed with FET as it's better for success rates and again, body of future mama, to heal after egg retrieval surgery. I had 17 eggs taken out and I was recovering for 5 days. There is no way in my mind I'd be where I'm today if I did fresh transfer.

Further, my clinic wanted me to have 2 cycles before doing FET. Out of 17 eggs 12 fertilized and 8 survived till day 6. We had PGS and 4 came back lovely and healthy, 2 boys and 2 girls. I had my transfer mid July, and I'm almost 7 weeks pregnant. We transferred only one embryo because it can still split. Doing all the tests and investing in one good process can work out perfectly. We have 3 embies left, frozen and waiting their turn. I'm still in the danger zone as I'm just half way through the 1st trimester, but I'm staying positive.

I wanted to give you my take on IVF as I was fighting infertility for 5 yrs. Money is just money. Our IVF FET package cost us 20k without medication. I managed to save on meds getting it through various places with giant discounts including overseas. I'm not rich, but I wanted baby JUST LIKE YOU. I have loan to pay off, but it's called LIFE INVESTMENT called Miracle.
I know my clinic cares for the success rates not the money, and I felt assured they do all to get me what I want and pay for. PLEASE, DONT LET ANYONE FOOL YOU. You pay the money and expect the care you deserve. It's a long journey and truly emotional.

I'm here if you have questions. I check forum occasionally so don't hesitate to ask anything.

Best of luck!!! Stay strong and positive AND take one day at a time.

Thank you so much asuila, you put tears in my eyes and give me hope. Congratulation!! Ufff i ask about pgs and they said that it will have to be mail out. Our plan will be base on how many folicle they get on the retrival day. So i will be asking on Wednesday once again. I have wait so long that dont mine waiting a little bit more if it mean my healthy baby.
Afm today, i dont know if it is the estrace or the amoxicillin im taken for the tooth infection but last night i thought i was coming up with a yeast infection. It was the night i need dh to empty since they will be collecting a sample on Wednesday and i was i told that it cant be more than 5 days grrrr i was not in no mode. Anyway we manage with protection just incase i did have a yeast. This morning im ok i dont feel anything. So lets see what Wednesday bring.

Good Morning ladies, just came out of my 5 day stem. Uterus lining at 10mm i have two dominant folicles one at 18mm and 19mm then i have one 14mm 3 13mm,11mm, 12mm and 3 at 10mm total of 11 folicle at the rase waiting on my estradiol levels for instruction. Next follow up on friday looking at sunday folicle retrival and if everything goes well Thursday the 31 will be my transfer day. I personally was not to happy with ny folicles being all over the place but i guess he knows what hes doing. I will probably start ganirelix tonight until triger day.
How is everyone else doing?

Good morning ladies, as for me bad and good news i have 11 folicles all over 17mm waithing on the lab to kmow our next step. Mostlikely egg retrival on sunday. Here is the bad news, my uterus lining from 10mm came down to none existing 5.3mm we will be cancelling the transfer to another day.  what a low blow. What could have cause this? The only thing different i use was the ganirelix to keep me from ovulating. I know i was on extra stress at work and at home trying to make sure everything was set.

Hi ladies! Do you mind if I join you? I am having a rough day today. I am completely new to the IVF world, I am preparing for my first round of IVF. I have been TC for 5 years now. I am 26 years old, DH is 28, he is completely normal all tests came back great for him. I have severe PCOS, hypothyroidism, and insulin resistance. Last month we signed all the papers and finished all the tests (that I had to take for a second time since we changed doctors), and I thought we were just waiting for my AF to come so we could start with the IVF cycle calendar. Well apparently I am supposed to hand-hold the doctors offices and make sure they fax things over and apparently a nutritionist is REQUIRED before an IVF cycle. I'm sorry I am probably just tired and overreacting but am I wrong? Don't I pay these people good money to contact me if there are things they still need or have them call their other offices for faxes? This process is so overwhelming and on top of work and family I feel like I cant do everything. Now they want to wait this cycle and do it the next time I get AF which could be months! It takes me months for it to come even on medroxyprogesterone.

I hope you all are doing much better today! I wish you all lots of baby dust and I look forward to hearing your success stories.

mglupe1979 I am so sorry that happened. Stress is awful, it affects so much. Your follicles are great though! Stay positive. I am sending good vibes and prayers your way!

mglupe, don't worry. I still think you are better off doing FET because your body might respond better to transfer. Remember, as long as you have good embies, the process will go and given that, you can have better outcome. The universe knows best :) try to think positive and don't stress. Don't forget to eat salty foods and drink Gatorade after retrieval.

I'm doing good. I have better days and less lovely days. I'm still on progesterone injections, estrace and estrogen patches. My girl is doing something there to keep me on my feet every night for a snack. I can't complain too much how I feel, but I'm becoming more and more tired. On Sunday I'll start my week 9 and on Wednesday, I have my prenatal appointment. Time flies already

Good morning ladies, Happy Saturday!! I hope everyone is doing good.
Thank you asiula for your words. I understand that it is better for our bodies to heal and later do the FET. It just that i feel i will be leaving them behind since i dont live here and i have to travel back and forth. I guess i will be google more on FET lol. I thought this was the end of my journey leaving Puerto Rico with my embies in me :( God knows what he is doing. Hoping for healthy eggies and quality embies to freeze. Another thing to worry if they will servibe the tho process. Ahhhh what a roller coster.
Asiula 9 weeks already time fly. In no time baby will be kicking and in your arms.
Thank you ladies
