Blood draws question

Postby BuffaloMaple » Wed Aug 23, 2017 8:59 am

Hi all,

I'm getting prepared to start my first IVF cycle. I begin stims 9/24 with ER in first week in October. Anyhoo, I have a huge needle phobia!!! I'm really only comfortable with needles in my left arm, but I was reading a suggestion online the other day to alternate arms for all the monitoring appointments so that your vein doesn't get worn out by the time you need your ER IV. Ok so my question is.. do any of you alternate arms or were you ok using the same arm every time?

I think i only had blood drawn during my stims around two times a few days apart.
Can't remember if i alternated the arms or not but i would suggest closing ur eyes while they do it,maybe that would help?!

I have to alternate arms for each blood draw, and my veins have become extremely painful since I started this journey. Just close your eyes like dana said.

For the ER, they give you an IV drip which goes in the top of your hand so has no effect on where they draw blood from your arm.

Thanks for the advice ladies. I get blood drawn CD3, 5, 8, and possibly daily after that until trigger. Definitely I'll close my eyes, and I guess I'll play it by ear with alternating arms. I'm soooo not looking forward to this!
