Natural FET examples

I’m so excited to be doing my first FET next month! I’ll be doing natural cycle FET. I have a consult with my RE on Friday to find out the details, but in the meantime I wanted to see what others experienced for their natural cycle FETs. How much monitoring did you have? What meds did you take and for how long? Anything else I should know?

I did a natural cycle transfer and I tell you, it was the easiest and less stressed cycle I’ve ever done and it worked on our first cycle. My situation is a little different in that we had frozen eggs thawed and fertilized during the cycle, but it’s still the same as you would do for an FET.

My protocol was once af arrived, on day 2 I went in and had a baseline ultrasound and an endo scratch/biopsy done to help the lining become more receptive. I took letrozole on days 3-7, then on day 10 I started monitoring with opks at home. I went in on day 12 for the first scan to check the lining and monitor the follicle. I ended up only having to go back in once more after day 12 because I got a positive opk at home on day 13, so I went in on day 14 to check the lining and blood work to make sure it was a true surge. The next day, they thawed and fertilized the eggs, I started vaginal progesterone the day after and transfer was 5 days later. So my meds for the entire cycle were letrozole (days 3-7) and vaginal progesterone, which I continued until 12 weeks. Easy easy easy!!!

Good luck to you!

Thanks for the reply! That’s awesome it was so easy, and congrats on your success!! Letrozole, interesting. I wonder what the purpose of that is for FET? I took it for my IUIs to develop multiple follicles.

My RE had me take a rest cycle between my IVF and FET. I’m in the middle of it right now, but I’m starting to get bad anxiety that maybe I developed a polyp again from all the estrogen. Hoping my baseline scan in a couple weeks proves me wrong. :?

How did the consult go with the RE on Friday?

I questioned the letrozole too. The RE said it has something to do with how letrozole has a positive effect on implantation and he's had great success using it in natural FET cycles. All I know is they had a system down and it worked like a charm. Everything just fell into place, it was truly unbelievable how easy it was after all the headaches and frustrations with my other clinic.

My consult went great! Looks like my FET will be super simple, too. Just a baseline ultrasound, OPKs starting CD10, a CD12 ultrasound, trigger at some point, and then start vaginal progesterone (Edometrin) for 10 weeks. I really hope it works the first time! If not, I might ask about trying with Letrozole next time.

I did a 5dt natural cycle and so much easier. Symptoms of pregnancy are a lot less than when I did a medicated cycle so kept making me think it hadn't worked as my 1st medicated one I felt sick, sore boobs pretty much everything

Buffalo - that's great that the consult went well and good luck!!! When does your transfer cycle start?

I agree with nic-chick, I did a medicated cycle with my previous clinic and I felt like crap the entire time I was on the meds, had pretty much every pregnancy symptom in the book and it wasn't successful. I felt great on the natural cycle and I've had very few symptoms this entire pregnancy so far, I'm 19 weeks now. Not to say that you won't have any symptoms, but I think the meds enhance them and make it worse in my opinion.

This is all so good to hear! Keep, 19 weeks you’re almost halfway there! That’s wonderful you’ve had minimal symptoms. I hope I can be so lucky. I’m expecting my transfer cycle to begin next week, Nov 16. Time is moving in slow motion! I’m guessing my transfer will be around Dec 5.
