IVF APRIL/MAY

Postby patienceA » Mon Apr 16, 2018 7:49 am

Hey guys! I just started my stims on the 14th and have my first follow up scan tomorrow to see how my ovaries have reacted thus far. I'm nervous and excited all at the same time!! I was actually supposed to stim in march but due to a cyst that cycle had to be put on hold. Were doing a FET cycle, so transfer is 5 weeks after retrieval (the end of may).

Anyone else doing a spring IVF cycle and super nervous??

**crossing my fingers the first cycle works!!

Yes I did fresh transfer because that's what my RE prefers. Although this next time around I want to try FET, if he and my DH would let me.

How are you feeling on stims so far? Do post an update after your scan tomorrow :)

@Rosey I actually feel fine since starting stims!! Today is day 3 of the medication but I heard/read about it taking a couple more days to feel side effects, but I guess everyone is different. I actually was questioning if I was injecting right because I literally feel fine.. lol.

Ill definitely post an update tomorrow :)

You are right that everyone is different and side effects also depend on ones dosages. I basically had no side effects throughout stims except a few mild headaches and my ovaries became heavier (I could feel them when walking) a few days before the retrieval. I also was worried about response. I didn't get my first US until day 8.

Remember to drink lots of water as it really helps reduce the risk of ohss. I drank tons of water and had 14 follies in the end but gladly no symptoms of ohss.

Rosey you give me so much hope!! I had my scan yesterday and everything went so well! I am responding to the medicine perfectly and my eggs looked great :D I have about 5 or so days left of stims then egg retrieval some time next week. I was so nervous starting this process but I'm actually enjoying it now. Keep me updated on your journey :)

Glad to hear about your scan. IVF might sound a scary process but it's surely not for the most of us...Unless some complication ocurrs. I am keeping everything tightly crossed for you. May they retrieve enough good quality eggs that turn into excellent embryos.
Do you mind if I ask why are you doing ivf?

Afm, I am on pause, waiting for my next ivf. My first fresh cycle failed and had no frosties to try FET. Will hopefully do 2nd retrieval in June.

Rosey- No problem explaining at all. I'm 25 with mild PCOS & anovulation. I produce lots of good quality eggs but just don't release them. I was only getting like 4 periods a year and not ovulating on my own. Before deciding IVF We tried 3 clomid cycles with no success, then moved on to IUI. I did one unsuccessful cycle of IUI and decided it was best to do IVF. We were spending so much money on things that weren't working so we figured it was best to take the aggressive route (we pay out of pocket 100%). My clinic only does FET because my doctor has had much more success with frozen transfers rather than fresh. Frozen transfers really give your body time to heal and get back to normal. My doctor seems very hopeful that we will have successful results first time around.
I honestly never thought I would be going through this, & it's safe to say I don't take my fertility for granted anymore. I still struggle with friends and family getting pregnant and I feel sort of jealous every time I go to a baby shower. It's hard but I know I can get through this. I'm happy to know there's others like you going through the same thing.

Do you mind me asking what made you choose IVF, and why was it unsuccessful the first time around?

Hi, lovelies! We're about to start ivf cycle with donor egg. We've already got the list of required documents. Waiting forward the 1st consultation. Our overseas clinic performs it with 5-day blasts. We're considering putting back 2. Hope so much it will work out this time! (me - 40 yo, dx: endo & PCOS. Made 2 lapos which brought no actual result. Passed 2 fresh ivf cycles with own eggs with no luck.)

Patience, that's quite a journey. Ivf is the right choice if one has been trying unsuccessfully for a while.

Hi Ladies, hope I can join in. :)
I had my ER back at the end of March and am now waiting to do FET. We had 23 eggs retrieved, 18 were mature, 15 fertilized but only 6 made it to day 5, so we have 6 frosties just waiting! Our RE only allows 1 at a time, so that's what we will be doing and only does FET because it has shown the best results. I also have issues with my lining being too THICK, which I can find hardly nothing about online. We have tried 9 IUIs with no luck, the 1st IUI we did resulted in a MC about 3 weeks later as my progesterone was too low and they had not prescribed me any progesterone supplements.

I started my Lupron shots on Saturday and take my last BCP on Wednesday night, so hopefully I will get AF quickly to get the ball rolling. Wishing everyone much luck and baby dust! :)

Hey boatlife, welcome to the board. But please don't be disappointed because this board isn't very active.

Sorry to hear that 9 IUIs didn't work for you but it's awesome that you have 6 beautiful frosties. FX that ivf works for you :)

Thank you so much for your best wishes. I tried to keep in touch. But then I went off the radar for some time as we flew to Ukraine for the 2nd visit and were quite busy with things explored. :) Love the country and the clinic itself. Love the thing they did to us. They placed back 2 nice healthy 5day blasts. Sadly one vanished.. Another one resulting in 12dpo bfp. :D This is our very first de shot after two failed fresh ones with oe.
