I was worried I wasnt doing a 5dt but I was glad I did the 3dt for obvious reasons (I didnt have the choice, my clinic does 3dt). However, none of my embies made it past blast stage and the only 2 that made it are the 2 that are about to be born now. I think the best place for them is where nature intended them to be, i.e. inside you asap, but that´s easy for me to say. I can see the advantages for doing both a 3dt and a 5dt...

I had success with a 5day transfer (my first IVF). There are pros & cons to both (a lot depends on the RE clinic and what/how well the lab can care for 5 days (experience) etc - as well as how many embryos you have to start with... Does your clinic have stats? For me the benefit was being able to wait and see what embryo was the strongest and best. I also felt that 3 days after conception the embryo would still be in the fallopian tube. At about 5days the embryo is in the uterus ready for implantation so I felt the 5day was timed better for my embryos. I would ask your RE what they think...

Good Luck

Kats: Saw your post on the BFP IVF girls buddy group and I voted 3 day transfer. For inspiration, my embies were only 5 cells and not of really good quality I think they were B/C on the day of transfer but both took and my girls born at 35W3D and are now a month old. I am wishing you all the best of luck and sending prayers out to all of you for your BFPs.

I got my BFP with a 3 day transfer with my 2nd IVF cycle. We transferred 2 grade A and 1 Grade B embryo on 3 day.

I always wanted a 5 day b/c I heard it was better but my Dr always told me doing a 3 day transfer is just as good. And I guess he was right….expecting baby girl in 3 weeks!!!!! :D

I voted 5 day transfer.
This definitely worked better for us as we had 100% fertilization so had no idea at day 3 which was the best embryo as they were all going strong, by day 5 there were only 4 left. We transfered one and have 3 frozen blasts. If I had have transfered at day 3 I believe it may not have worked because we could have chosen one of the ones who didn't make it...
Also I had a bit of OHSS - the extra couple of days gave my body a little more time to recover.

Well, I won't hae my betas for anouther 2 days... It's driving me crazy sense I've had two miscarriages int eh past....
1st IVF and I transfered 2 5 day blasts that were 5AA.... They were supposed to be the best of the best. The embreologist said he couldn't have asked for a better embreo, and they were even starting to hatch.... They warned me of the high risk of multiples is I transfered two, but I needed this round to work because we didn't have money to pay for round two... We froze our other 4 blasts... Transfered the two, and waitined.... I took PG tests each day to watch the hormones leave my body.. They did at the end of day 6 and all through day 7 past ER.... At 8 days past ER and 3 DPET... I started to get some ever soooooo light BFPs that almost looked like gohst lines.... At 10dpER it was pretty obvious and you no longer had to squint, so I bought my first ClearBlue Digital knowing that most likely it wouldn't show yet... I was wrong "PREGNANT"....
Still very sceptical and wil feel better afer a few betas and definately after I see a heart beat.... Prayers for a sticky bean this time everyone please......

3dt worked for me, I think inside you is by far the best environent for growth. I think the only reason to do a 5dt is if you have alot (7 or more) strong looking embies and you want a better idea of which will survive.

But if like me you have only one or two I'd say get them back inside on day 3

Best wishes and baby dust to all

2 day transfer here...no assisted hatching, no medrol, no doxy. Just a 2-day transfer w/acupuncture before and after transfer. NEVER thought it would work. Stupid me, lol.

BFP with Day 3 transfer

Postby amc » Fri Aug 08, 2008 8:27 am

I just received a postive beta today :D . It was 14 days after ET. My number is 220. I go back in one week for another test. I only had 2 embryos so I did a day 3 transfer. They both 8 or 9 cell embryos and excellent quality. I also has assisting hatching due to my age. I am 41 but it goes to show you can have good eggs in the 40's. I still need to make it through 3 months before I get too excited. It was my first IVF attempt as well. I did 5 IUI's previously.

I did HPT on Day 10 and 11 and it was postive but wouldn't do another incase it was still the trigger so I waited for the beta today.

Didn't really have any symptoms. Swore :af: was coming. Woke up the last 2 evening with pains. have premenstral like symptoms. I really thought I was out. My breast have been tender but really have been for 2 weeks because of the PIO. The thing that had me thinking maybe I was pregnant was because I was constipated most of this week. It is not normal for me and I am also taking prenatals with a stole softner in it.

I have been reading everyones post so thought I wold share mine
