Xenical - TTC

Postby Birdie01 » Tue Oct 11, 2011 4:33 am

Hi Ladies,:hi:

So after a long road with endless tests and no results i went back to my GP today. He has suggested we take a ttc break :sob: and focus on losing weight first. I have about 25kg min to lose- which seems like a mountain to climb. But he feels that even if we / i didnt lose weight and he referred me on for further treatment that the fertility clinic would say the same thing.

Anyway, he said i cannot TTC while taking Xenical, does anyone know how close this is to the truth? I know if i found out i was pregnant i would have to stop taking it, but i don't imagine it would hurt the baby in the TWW?

Any advice is appreciated...

Thanks!! :D

Sorry sweetie but Im not even sure what that is. I am hoping that you have a :bfp: and don't have to worry so much about the weight loss. I know plenty of people that have gotten preggers with out loosing the weight the doc suggests them loose. GL

Thanks. Try to focus more on the weight loss. I know it is going to be hard but I really think that it is true when you stop trying it happens.

birdie- good luck with the possible BFP this cycle, and also with the weight loss!!! i am also working on losing weight...so far 14.8 lbs in 6 weeks! i have been going to weight watchers meetings, which i did in the past and it worked for me then (then infertility and laziness led to weight gain). PM me if you want some extra support!! it certainly is not an easy journey....i pigged tonight and feel like crap but tomorrow is a new day!

I will definitely PM you for support!! :jump:

Good luck on your BFP too.

What are you doing then at the moment? At least your RE is able / willing to help while you are losing weight, mine just won't!

my first RE never said anything about my weight, even though i gained 30 pounds during a year of treatments. i see a new RE in a couple weeks so i am nervous about what he will say. we are not doing any treatments at the moment, last treatment was follistim.

Good luck Goobermom... please keep in touch and let me know how it goes with the new appointment. :)

All my RE could talk about was my weight, which has made me more determined to lose the weight, because then he won't have any reason to not put on any meds. I am also going to see my SA doctor when i go back home for Christmas, just for a second opinion to see what he thinks.

What is follitism?

I found this about xenical http://weight-loss.emedtv.com/xenical/x ... nancy.html

Have a read and decide fir yourself. I would also go to the FDA website and read what they have.

Hi Seelie,

Thanks for this, it is a good article, and yes, I personally think then, that you could probably take xenical and carry on TTC - but once you find out you have a BFP I should probably stop - which wouldnt be a problem! Also losing weight in the meantime might help with the BFP! :)

Thanks for the info! Good luck with your medicated IUI cycle this month!! :jump:
