is it really my weight?

Postby jen2bema » Tue Jul 09, 2013 1:37 pm

My husband and I have been TTC for two years. In the beginning I was overweight. Now I am very obese (250). I just had weight loss surgery so my weight should be coming down. However, I have never missed a period and I ovulate right on time and always have +ovulation tests. I know I need to see a fertility specialist but I know they will just say its my weight. I am wondering if its really a weight issue if my period is on time and ovulate as well.

I am anywhere from 220-240. While my RE has said I should lose weight, he has said it is not a primary concern in my infertility.

Honestly since you've had WLS, I would be more concerned with how your restricted diet and ability to absorb vitamins could affect TTC.

In october last year i was 251lbs... all my tests were 'normal', despite my cycles being short with LPD - they put it down to my weight... i'm now 182lbs (with another 28lbs to lose to my personal target) and my cycle hasn't changed one bit!! They expected things to change and are now doing more investigations because it hasn't changed a thing! I couldn't have the investigation here at the BMI i was at.

The one thing i will say is i am now in a much healthier position, if it ever does decide to happen, to carry a healthier baby and be a much lower risk pregnancy xx Best thing i ever done as i feel so much better inside and out xx

Yeah, I definitely advocate losing weight for your health, but it pisses me off that they always use it as the reason for infertility problems, when it really doesn't seem to be.

Ain't that the truth!

My RE has commented about it, but thankfully doesn't blame my IF on it. If he had I probably would have walked out.
