For all you ladies that have been successful with IUI, how many times did you have the procedure before getting your BFP?

I got my BFP with my 2nd IUI

...however my 1st IUI I consider my "test IUI"....I started on the lowest dose of Follistim because we weren't sure how I was going to respond and we didn't want to overstimulate...well I didn't respond well and actually was under stimulated...had to stim a long time before we got at least one follie to an "okay" size to trigger. Also DH was out of state for work so we had to use a frozen sample...while it was still a good count after the wash and thaw...it would have been better to use fresh.

Our 2nd IUI...we upped meds and everything went perfect...now expecting twins :)

That is wonderful Macksmom! I remember stalking you when you got your BFP! Twins are awesome! I would love to have twins! We want 2 kids anyway so having them both in one shot would be nice. I can't imagine going through this one more time...

Thanks for replying and hope you are enjoying every bit of your twin pregnancy :)

With my son, it took a total of 4 IUI's. However the first 3 were with Femara plus trigger and IUI and were done before any testing other than blood work. Each of those 3, I had good looking follies on the right side. Then I had an HSG and learned my right tube is blocked, so all those IUI's were really for nothing. My 4th IUI was with my RE and I used Repronex plus trigger plus IUI and got pregnant on the first try. :D

That being said, we are now ttc #2 and have been using the same protocol (Repronex plus trigger plus IUI). I've had 3 failed IUI's so far, so I'm hoping #4 is lucky again in January/February!!

Thanks :) It's nice being pregnant with twins...especially for as long as we tried! I feel like we are getting double the reward for our efforts :) And to have one boy and one girl is PERFECT for us!!!! We are so excited :) It is definitely worth all the time, effort, and repeat BFN's!

Reading the PP post, I would definitely make sure you have an HSG done prior to an IUI for that exact reason (tube blocked)...my RE let me do my first IUI without an HSG first because at that time we were paying for everything out of pocket...but when the first one didn't work, he insisted on doing a HSG before trying again....even though it came out clear, it was good to know that there wasn't yet another issue preventing us from getting pregnant.

Good luck :)

Oh my Gosh! A boy and a girl is great!
I remember when I went to kindergarden with a pair of boy and girl twins I though it was so cool! I had a little kindergarden crush on the twin boy and I was hoping to be best friends with the twin girl :)

Congrats Macksmom! I am just starting my IUI journey, my DH and I have been trying to conceive since 11/2009. I have so many questions for you since I am in my tww and I am trying to stay optimistic. How many follies did you have and what size? I had 3 on CD 13 one 20mm, 21mm, & 17mm. My DH had a count of 15 million after wash. We have been diagnosed with Mild Male Factor Infertility since DH morphology was a little off. My FSH was a tad high at 10.2 but Dr said it was nothing to be concerned about, I am keeping my fingers crossed this cycle works but I honestly don't feel any different then I usually do:(

I got pregnant on my second cycle of clomid IUI. I did one cycle of clomid without IUI before hand. I think I did not get pregnant during the first two cycles as my eggs were really large at trigger. Around 30mm. The time I got pregnant my eggs were around 20mm at ovulation. Sadly, that pregnancy ended in miscarriage at 8 weeks.

I then went on to using Femara for the first 5 days and then 5 days of Bravelle. I didn't respond that well and only made one egg so we ended up calling off the IUI. We did it the old fashioned way and got pregnant that cycle. Go figure. :)

I think my DH's sperm count after wash was around 80 million. It was obviously not his fault that we were not getting pregnant. :)

Good luck!

Congrats on starting your IUI journey! I know how exciting and nerve-racking it can be! But if you get your BFP, it's sooooooo worth every second of it!

On my first IUI I responded poorly to the Follistim and only had 2 follies growing and only 1 reached ovulating size by the time of the IUI....we also had to use a frozen sperm specimen because DH was out of town...that ended in a BFN...but I like to consider that my "test IUI" because we were seeing how my body would react to the injectable meds.

For my 2nd IUI we upped my meds and at my last u/s I had 4 follies measuring at 18,17,15,14. We decided to stim for one more day to give them a chance to get a tad bigger, then I triggered, then had my IUI 2 days later. We had a post wash count of around 36mil with 87% motility. 10piui I got my BFP :)

You follies sizes are great!!!! And so is DH's count! My RE said he likes to see over 10mil for an IUI...so that's good!

How many dpiui are you?

Good luck!!!!!!!!!!

Today I am 6dpiui but I am getting a little discouraged because I don't feel any different. I had a little cramping after the procedure but I feel like most months I have so many "symptoms" and then :af: comes along. I was actually on track to start IUI last month but I went in for my morning monitoring on a Sunday and the dr office knew I was going out of town that night and would be back Monday evening. I had one follie at 19mm and the nurse had me schedule my IUI for Tuesday morning. I was under the impression that since I was on a medicated cycle I wouldn't ovulate on my own. Well boy was I suprised when they called me Sunday afternoon and told me my bloodwork came back and I was surging and needed to come in Monday morning for my IUI instead of Tuesday. So that cycle we had to convert to timed intercourse which was awful because both DH & I were sick with colds:( Looking back now I am glad it was switched since I only had one follie. That first cycle I was only on 50mg clomid day 3-7 and I think I did 3 shots of Bravelle 75. This cycle worked out great I was on 100mg clomid day 5-9 and only did one shot of Bravelle 75 then the first time I went back for monitoring my follies were big enough to trigger. I forgot the mention the first cycle I had to go in for monitoring like 3 or 4 times :( . Did you notice anything different before you got your BFP?

I got pregnant on my 2nd cycle of Clomid/IUI. (100mg) :)

I really think the first time didn't work because we had our IUI a little late (I was monitored, but also used an OPK for my own sanity)

On the second month, I had a positive OPK on a Sunday and when I went in to have bloodwork on Monday, they told me they were going to schedule me for and IUI on Tues. I said "NO! I want my IUI today please" I just had a feeling Tues would be too late so I "took charge" and it worked!

Listen to your body, I had all the signs and I can feel myself ovulate each month so I knew I was correct. (I ovulated naturally- did not need the trigger) I was too afraid to speak up the first month, but sooooo glad I did the second month.

LINDSYT- Don't worry about not having any symptoms. I had NO symptoms. I'm 10 weeks now and I still have no symptoms. My boobs are a little sore but that's it. I was so worried even after my BFP because of the lack of symptoms, but we have seen our little bean 4 times on the ultrasound and saw/heard the heartbeat each time.

Thanks Flygirl! That makes me feel alot better. I am usually good about knowing when I ovulate I ALWAYS have EWCM. Did you Dr. prescribe Prometrium after your IUI. I have been taking one in the morning and one in the evening.

I'm on Endometrin suppositories :) I started taking them the day after my IUI. Only a couple more weeks left until I'm done with them. It will be nice to NOT have to wear a pantyliner everyday!

LindsyT - unfortunately that's one of the crappy things with Clomid...it cause a lot of pregnancy symptoms like sore breasts etc. Trust me, I have been through that! The only difference I had after this last IUI was I cramped everyday after my IUI...through when I got my BFP. Still, I totally was expecting another BFN...after 4yrs of only seeing negative pee sticks I had just become used to it. I can still remember...I POAS and was sitting on the kitchen table talking to DH occasionally glancing at the stick just waiting for the time to be up...was totally expecting to just see all white again...you should have seen my face when I saw that hint of a line...I was in utter shock!!! So try not an let symptoms or lack of get you too worried...heck, I've got twins and haven't had ANY morning sickness (which they say is worse with multiples)...so really it's different for everyone :)

Also, on a side note...a medicated cycle doesn't prevent you from ovulating (unless you are doing IVF and taking meds to supress ovulation)...doing a trigger shot just forces your body to releases eggs from ALL your mature follies whereas usually you would just release one egg on your own.

And don't feel bad about having to go in multiple times to be monitored....I had to too because I just wasn't responding well to the meds and my follies weren't growing as fast as my RE thought they would...so I would have to go in get an u/s, increase my dose, and go back a few days later for another u/s etc....it's good that you have a doc that wants to monitor you well :)

When are you going to test?
