Trigger & Ovulation Question...

Postby wannabmommee » Mon Mar 21, 2011 9:45 am

OK..so this is probably a really dumb question..but if you trigger..how long thereafter do you actually ovulate and do you really ovulate? Normally prior to ovulation, I have pains around my lower abdominal area- where my ovaries are..and I still felt it after IUI..I wonder if it's just cramping from IUI since I did cramp? Are we sure to ovulate 100% and how long thereafter do we ovulate?

Normally right after Ovulation, my boobies start getting really sore..and they are sore for 2 weeks prior to AF arriving..and I am 3days past IUI..and NOTHING!!! So I'm worried maybe I didn't ovulate at all? Is that possible? I don't have a problem with ovulating on my own..so I'm just curious...

I think there is a 5% chance of not ovulating when you use a trigger shot. It's pretty small.

I temped this past cycle, and I'm thinking I O'd 48ish hours after the trigger. Normally I think I O earlier (like 36 hours) but not this past cycle.

They say the average is 36 hours after the trigger shot.

As much as temping adds to my obsession, it's nice when I do the trigger shot so I can confirm and pinpoint my O.

:luck:

I agree with Kara that the avg is 36hrs after trigger for O. I'd say your cramping is related to IUI. I had a lot of cramping day of and days after my IUI! Quite a bit. And I'm pregnant, so hopefully that's a good sign for you!

Thanks Lara! I've been praying! The only thing I'm worried about is DH's count...we struggle with MFI..motility..and after a 51million count, he ended up with a 3million count..RE said they want at least 10 million, 5 million is good, 2 million is considered low..so we're in between! It only takes 1 so I'm hoping within that 3 million..1 can get through!

I triggered yesterday AM and wasnt able to BD til today around 4ish! over 24 hours, but not yet to the 36 hours that they say is average for post-trigger-O. We are going to do it again tonight to cover all the bases. I was SO not happy with DH when he came home too late yesterday and I had to go to work.
What do you guys think, am I still in the safe zone? I know I'm probably just being paranoid.

I was so glad to see this post this morning! I was just getting on here to ask the same questions about the trigger shot. I took mine at 6pm Sunday, but still haven't ovulated yet and was starting to freak out that maybe it wasn't going to work for me. In the past, I ovulated 28 and 37 hours after Ovidrel, so I'm not sure what the deal is this time around. I'm glad to see that it took some other people a little longer though too. :fingersx: that it will still work!
