Back to Back IUI?

Postby waitingtobemommy » Wed Jun 08, 2011 12:38 pm

I know there's been a lot of discussion in the past about doing two IUIs per cycle but I dont recall what everyone's thoughts are about this.

So DH and I decided that this will be our last round of IUI, since it's our 3rd round of IUI without a baby and we have now been recommended for IVF by two docs. I had IUI this morning with 2 follies and 31 million swimmers. My nurse HIGHLY recommended doing another IUI tomorrow, saying that it's well-worth the extra costs, could potentially double our chances, and the timing would still be good.

Since this is our last round of IUI, do you ladies think giving it an extra shot this month is worth it? I did get a BFP out of my 2nd IUI so I am somewhat (cautiously) hopeful that this month just might work out...[/list]

I'm having my first IUI Friday so I don't have experience yet, but I just wanted to say that if I was in your position, I would do the back to back IUI..because it can only help, not hurt, especially with the fact that you did get a BFP with IUI before (sorry for your loss) and it's a lt cheaper than IVF, and since it's your last go at it, why not go out with a bang, or a double bang!! ;)

Please KUP, wishing you lots of luck...you have a great chance either way!

If you want to save money then what about just BDing? However if there is a sperm issue I would recommend back to back IUI.

I did a back to back IUI but looking back on it regret it because my hubby's sperm count and motility were excellent. We could have saved several hundred dollars and just BD.

I hope you get your BFP this month!!!!

My RE suggests always doing back to back IUI. I didn't question it having never done this before. I'm guessing your insurance doesn't cover the procedure?

We decided to go for #2 and I'm so glad we did because DH's #'s actually increased after the first one. He had 31 mill yesterday and 41 mill today. So out of those 72 mill, at least one has to hit the target, right??

We decided to go for it because BD doesn't seem to work for us. We've spent several years NTNP and actively TTC the past 3.5 years, and have never got a BFP from BDing, so IUI seems like our best bet. And no, insurance didnt cover anything so it's been an expensive month! Hope it's worth it! :)

I'm glad you decided to go for #2. All of our RE's have recommended a double but we have significant count issues, so even if sample 2 is worse for us, its more than what would get there on there own lol. Good luck cant wait to see it worked for you!!
