Hey! It's day 5 for little Cylas and I am tired but loving it! He is sleeping most of the day and cluster feeding at night so I'm up pretty much all night and just can't seem to nap during the day. We got home 11pm Sunday night. My milk came in Minday late afternoon so that helps him stay full a little longer. I am majorly engorged! The pain is getting better but his first latch hurts so bad. He is doing well at nursing at nursing though. I hear the pain should go way by 4-6 weeks. We had our pediatrician follow up yesterday. He is only down 5% in weight and gained a couple ounces since we left the hospital so doing really well (they expect them to lose up to 10% before your milk comes in).
So the stomach massaging was to get the placenta out and some ex
Tara blood from the uterus. Overall my pain down there isn't bad. The cramping while breast feeding only lasted 2-3 days thankfully! My stomach has gone way down and I think it's due to breastfeeding for sure.

I'm glad to hear you are spending more time the hubby!! Work was always a good distraction for me too. Although I haven't posted in a bit I've been thinking about you! I hope you are doing well and I really forward to your results. I am very hopeful for you!!

Here's some pics. One of him all hooked up in special care. And the other two at home. He does have what they call and angel kiss or stork bite on his forehead. It will fade with time but possibly always come out when he gets mad or upset later in life. :)

Oh, Marcie, thank you for sharing the pictures! I was so excited to see them! He is so adorable!!! Congratulations! What a snuggable little guy!!

My labs came back today all good, so meds stay the same. They asked me if I have cheated yet and started to test, lol. I said not yet! I am 5days past transfer, and I read lots of people get their bfp's between 4-6 days after a 6 day transfer. I'm still planning to hold out til 9 days past transfer. My beta is 12 days past.

Enjoy your family this week, and hope you are getting some rest!

Take care!

Here is this morning's news..... Cautiously optimistic until we get betas and u/s, but this is the first time I have seen this in my life!! Praying he or she snuggles in for the full ride! Oh my gosh!!!

I see my folks today, and DH wants to wait until after betas to tell. I'm not sure I can, lol!

Enjoying your family? They still there? I bet they are enjoying Cylas!

Yay!!! Congrats!!! :) great beta number. Mine was super low and had me worried. Mine also less than then doubled in 2 days. I'm so happy for you. How are you feeling? I'm sure it's hard to tell with the meds added. How is your hubby? Are you going to wait for the ultrasound to tell family? We didn't for immediate family...too excited. :)

My family left today. My mom took me to a newborn shoot yesterday. I am so excited for those pics. DH couldn't make it since we scheduled last minute so she is letting us come back to get a couple family photos. She was amazing with him and I had to keep feeding him to knock him out for those cute poses!
Breastfeeding has been hard. My nipples are cracked and bleeding and his latch is very painful. I'm working on getting it better and some days are better than others. I'm going to call a lactation consultant later this week if we can't improve. I'm planning on exclusively breastfeeding for 6 months so we are in it for he long haul! I hope to introduce foods at 6 months and continue breastfeeding up to one year. My first goal is 6 months though.

Looking forward to your updates!! Congrats again. I'm sure it feels surreal. It sure did for me.

Re: September IUIs

Postby JLG80 » Tue Aug 18, 2015 4:08 pm

Thanks!

I'm feeling good. I had a couple days with just a couple moments of nausea, but no sickness or anything yet. Have some crampy feelings going on. Been so exhausted the past few days. Other than that, and some boob pains, I'm good! Watched Garth brooks on Ellen earlier.....not a fan, but he played a song called, "mom" about God sending a baby to earth to his mom. First pregnancy balling...check!

How was the time with family? I'm sure it was great, but also probably nice to get back to just you guys. I bet the pictures will be so precious!

Is there anything you can put on your nipples to help with the cracking? That sounds pretty rough. Hang in there, hopefully it will get better soon. Maybe the lacatation consultant will have some suggestions.

It is surreal. How long before it became real to you? I thought I was obsessed with ttc, man, I don't know where to start now! Nursery, names, maternity clothes, kind of overwhelming!! One of my friends has already claimed the role of throwing me a shower, and said she was going to throw together a pregnancy survival kit with things that helped her through pregnancy. I was touched by this. I found that there is a cd of lullaby versions of Dave Matthews.....i posted it on Pinterest, and she said she was definately getting me that when I got pregnant, so I was like, ummmmmmm, guess what? Lol!

DH is good. He is excited. Our family and close friends all knew and supported us through IVF, so they were expecting news (good or bad) soon. So, we have told family and a few close friends. My boss is aware since I have had to adjust my work schedule for trips to Springfield so much, so my two immediate coworkers are aware I found out today, and will be wondering when I return tomorrow.

Do you remember what side of the placenta Cylas was on? I don't know if there is any validity to this, but I heard that by asking what side of the placenta the baby is on as early as first ultrasound can be an indicator of gender. Supposedly right side is boy, left is girl, and it's supposed to be 97% accurate.

Personal question....did you guys resume normal sexual activities after finding out u were pregnant? We were restricted to no sex from egg retrieval until beta. So I asked dr today (yes on speaker with all the staff) if we could resume. He literally said, "yes, but no wild stuff like swinging on chandeliers!" Hahaha, afterwards I told DH and said maybe I shouldn't of asked with everyone, but wanted to know. He was like, Jen, everyone there has seen your hoo-haw....multiple times......they send me to a room to jack off Ina cup.....I think you are fine with a sex question, lol!!

How are you feeling, other than your nipples? Are you having any post pardon depression?

Re: September IUIs

Postby Marciej09 » Wed Aug 19, 2015 1:19 pm

For me it was scary in the beginning. I worried a lot. I had light period cramps till about 5-6 weeks which is totally normal but I didn't like it. Then when they went away I worried again... Lol. I didn't cry until the ultrasound which we did at 7 weeks. It hit me full on at that point and I just lost it in a good way. I relaxed more after that. The second ultrasound was at 9 weeks and that really helped as well. Especially seeing how much he grew during that time! Then the RE released us.
I remember hearing about that placenta thing but I have no idea what side he was on. I found out the sex at 13 weeks after that blood test. You might be offered that too since apparently insurance pays for it if you are 35 or older. It was weird to find out that way but I loved knowing early. From about 7 weeks through 13 I felt so crappy that we didnt have sex. It was not appealing to me when eating alone was so difficult. After that I felt great again and hubby and I got back to normal. I had a high sex drive actually in the 2nd trimester!

You have so much time to plan so don't get overwhelmed! Also don't really buy much newborn to 3 month clothes because people love to buy you tiny baby clothes! I ended up with too much so I just started buying 6-12 month clothes when I had the urge to buy! I didn't buy anything at all till I knew his sex. I pinned like crazy on Pinterest though! Look up peg board for the nursery. It's the best thing we did! It hangs above the dresser where we have the changing pad and holds diapers, wipes, burp cloths, a little shelf for lotions and diaper cream, and couple cute things. I will send a pic!

I'm glad you have so much support. It's so fun to have people to share your news with. It's hard to keep it from others till 12 weeks! Everyone handles that different. Your hormones are just going so crazy the first trimester that I just thought everyone would know. Haha

I am doing great. I haven't noticed a big hormonal shift at all. No depression thank goodness. I could just stare and smile at Cylas' little face all day!
The hospital gave me lanolin for my nipples but it didn't seem to help. I actually found letting a little of my milk dry on them helps more. I also have some Earth Momma Angel Baby nipple cream that I do like too so I use that at night. It will get better and i do love the bonding time regardless of some pain.

I am so excited for you and can't wait to hear those beta numbers tomorrow!

Oh thank you for all the advice! I would have never thought about not going overboard on 0-3 clothes! Great point!

I bet that peg board would be very handy! We are looking at a crib that has a changing station attached to it. As soon as we told DH's folks, they said they would buy us a crib. I looked at some online, but will probably want to shop around in person. We have time before we make that purchase, though. I have had a couple of quotes that I want framed and hung in the nursery that have been in my mind since we first started trying to conceive. So, I found one of them online, but am holding off cause I don't know what colors we are going with yet. From your picture, our paint color is very similar. Ours is a green/gray tone, and I'm thinking about doing orange accents for a boy, and maybe for a girl, too, I don't know. I think we will decide once we know the sex. I will probably hold off on buying much of anything until we know. I can use that time to pay off the rest of my IVF meds, and hopefully save up some.

In the meantime, DH has the project of finishing the closet (we never did after we moved in), so it needs at least a shelf and a hanging bar. We also need to move his old gun safe and my elliptical out of there.

I admit, my day off yesterday was spent primarily on Pinterest!

I'm glad you are feeling good! Coconut oil is very moisturizing.....maybe that is another option for you? Did you contact the lactician consultant?

Re: September IUIs

Postby JLG80 » Thu Aug 20, 2015 6:48 pm

Beta today was 1022!!!! Our ultrasound is scheduled on 9/3...... That is the day after our wedding anniversary!!!!! Couldn't get any better!!!

Nurse said I can move from progesterone injections to suppositories 2x daily. I've read a lot how messy they are, and just got a refill of 4 weeks worth of shots, so I told her at least for now I would stay with the shots, he'll I'm getting used to them by now. She said I would likely be on the patches, pills, and shots (or suppositories if I switch)until 10/19.

We have a concert the end of September, and I don't know that it will be over by shot time, so I asked about the timing.....she said give it early rather than late, but then have to gradually get back to the time. So, I usually do it at 10:40 right after DH gets home.....so she said if the show starts at 7, do it, then the next night at 8, then the next at 9, etc until we get back to normal time. This would mean I would have to give the shots myself for a few days, or recruite someone else to. I'm assuming the venue won't let me walk in with a hypodermic.....so maybe we will leave early if it is not over in time, or I will see the policies of going to our car and back in, or bringing it in. I also may decide to switch to the suppositories at that point. They assured me both are equally effective, even if some of the suppositories leak out. Any suggestions? Obviously, baby is most important, so if that means leaving early, switching, or stabbing myself with that long @ss needle a couple of times, then so be it. Right now they are so much more bearable cause I don't see them going in!!

Got my first baby related item today. My friend brought me a belated birthday/ happy pregnancy gift. It was chocolate, nipple cream, and some homemade diaper rash cream. Plus she brought me a couple of her pregnancy books.

How are things with you? How's the nursing? What's the lactation consultant say?

Awe I'm so happy for you :) I meant to reply sooner. Cylas had been cluster feeding again and I had no sleep for a couple days! I think we are through it though and he's back to every two hours now. Hoping we will get to 3 hours soon! We actually improved the latch. It's still painful sometimes but my nipples are healing and no longer bleeding.

How far along will you be at your ultrasound? The transfer days confuse me!
I think it would be ok to switch to suppositories. You might as well get used to discharge and buy loads of panty liners! You will use them :)

Are you still testing at home? It's a waste I know but I did for a couple weeks. I just loved seeing those double lines and had so many tests!

Hoping your feeling good and having a great weekend!
