May IUI

Postby Jean789 » Thu Apr 23, 2015 4:34 pm

Hi ladies. Starting the conversation for anyone doing an IUI in May. I go in on Saturday for an ultrasound and will start femara and gonal f after that appt. looking at an IUI around May 5th maybe. Anyone else close in their cycle?

This will be our 5th IUI....took a break last month. Tried pre-seed and soft cups but no luck :-( anyone have luck with IUIs after this many? Everything is OOP for us so IVF is not an option.

We have unexplained infertility. Follicle sizes are good with injectables and husbands count over 25+ mil but nothing yet. Starting to get discouraged ( and poor!)

Hi Jean! I will be having IUI about the same time as you! I went for baseline today and will start femara 7.5mg tonight. My protocol is femara CD 3-7, 150 Menopur day 9 and then follicle US and labs next Friday. Depending on the US I would expect my IUI to be May 3 or 5.
This will be my 3rd IUI. The others I had two good size follies each and insem with at least 45m 90% motility. Both were obviously failures :( it is discouraging to have "textbook" cycles without a positive outcome. We are also OOP. It would probably take a couple years to save up for IVF, and we are nearly at the point we would need to decide whether to quit IUI and save or try a couple more IUI and no IVF. Right now I'm just going to live in the moment and not worry about future fertility plans.
Good luck on your US tomorrow! This is totally the ONE for us!

Hi ladies,
I'd love to join in! I'm 41 with low ovarian reserve. AMH: .95, FSH: 7.8. Had my baseline today, start Femara tomorrow, and Gonal-F next week. I have already had 3 unsuccessful IVF cycles, so we've decided to give IUI a try. (Mostly because we don't want to have to live in the streets).

Good luck to everyone!

I will be having second IUI on Wednesday. If this is unsuccessful then we will do another in May. I am keeping my fingers crossed. When they checked me today my endo lining was only 6mm and my follicles were only 16mm...so I am hoping those numbers improve before Wednesday.

Hi ladies!
Jennyrn- we are right there together on this too!
Jennimac- i can't say I know much about lining and how it thickens, but follicles grow 1-2mm per day so it seems like you should have some nice ones by your IUI!

How are you guys keeping busy while you wait?
I'll be busy at work filling another position. I also have dance costume try ons for DD and I've started a new crochet project - a sun wreath for the front door. This and working out should fill up week wait for follicle check!

Hi Ladies! Just had my US today. They said everything looked good so we are good to start for this cycle. Starting today, day 3, I'm taking femara and on days 7-10 (I think- I'll have to double check my sheet) I'm doing gonal-f shots. Only 75 but that's what I did before and had good sized follicles- just no BFP.

Kelly21- we are a day off of each other! Very similar medication too- but what is menopur? That's our only difference. I've never heard of it. Oh and I'm so with you on the frustration of 'textbook' cycles. My problem is shorter cycles, but it has been corrected with medicine. On our last IUI we had 99% motility and still nothing!!!! So frustrating.

Jennimac- we are also on the same medicine. When do you start your cycle and IUI appts?

Hey ladies,

I have been MIA this last month only because I'm only cycle day 60 something and I am a hormonal mess LOL (thats putting it lightly), ok so a quick catch up I was waiting for AF after taking provera for 10 days starting March 9th she has yet to show her ugly face! anyways so RE put me on birth control for the month to restart my cycle. So here I am with a week of birth control left and just waiting to be let out of the gates and get going... So by the dates I should be expecting her around May 6th and then I go from there. I'm hoping this is it ladies for me and for you as well. Prayers and Baby Dust 8)

Hello Ladies! I'm so happy to join this May board! This will be our 2nd IUI, our March one did technically work - but ended up as a chemical pregnancy so we took April off and we're back at it this month. I had my 3rd day US yesterday and all is looking well, I'm on 500 mg of Femera days 3-8, Gonal F (only 50 ml) starting on day 8, then Ovidrel and progesterone. It's been about two years of trying for us, we did about a year of trying in vain, then were referred to a specialist to find out that hubby has a zero sperm count.. ha! Anyways, we decided to use donor sperm, last counts were pretty good, 9.5 mil and 18 (we did two iuis back to back). I'm so greatful for this website!

Onestepcloser, it's nice to hear from you girl, I'm sorry you're going through this rough time, I hope your next cycle starts quickly so you can get going! Good luck, don't lose your wonderful and positivity!

Jean, I'm one day behind you :) what day of the cycle do you usually ovulate on?

good luck everyone! I hope May brings us all happiness! And, on a positive note, I just found out my friend got pregnant on her 2nd IUI! happy news :)

Hi ladies!

Bare with me, I'm new to this. This is also my first IUI after trying to conceive for over a year with PCOS. I started the Gonal-F injections Friday and went in today for another US and BW. I am also scheduled to have the IUI on May 5th or 6th. I look forward to learning from all of you and wish you guys the best of luck and BFPs! (I'm also still learning what some of the acronyms mean :))

Hi ladies, this will be my fourth IUI
The first two we had really really bad as numbers and one follicle. The Last one, we finally got multiple follicles - thanks gonalF and some nice numbers, but still no success. We had to take a month off, due to cysts that formed after the IUI - thanks gonalF, but they are now all gone and I am taking my second dose of femara tonight, will be starting Gonal-f on Wednesday and then we will see how long it takes to grow these suckers.

Trying to be optimistic but as we all know this can take a heavy toll on ones psyche ... Going to try acupuncture for stress relieve during this cycle.

Myshelsong- please let me know how you like acupuncture. I've been giving that some thought as this is our 5th IUI.

Hi Jean. Before we moved last year I was doing acupuncture for about six months, just for stress and I loved it. I hope I can find someone that is as soothing and good as my last lady. It is completely painless, and I 100% recommend it to anyone with stress or anxiety. Calling in the morning so hoping to get in before the IUI or right after. Would love to go a few times a week leading up to it. If I can!

Myshelsong- I just made an appt for my first ever acupuncture treatment this Thursday! My insurance doesn't cover it ( of course ) so this too will be out of pocket.
Did a little research last night and even if it doesn't work for my infertility- I could use some calm thoughts during my Tww wait after this months IUI. I'll let you all know how it goes!
