First IUI

Postby Jmay0051 » Tue Aug 18, 2015 10:21 am

Hi all! I am completely new to all this. Just went to the Dr and found that my husband has a low sperm count but morphology and motility are good. We were advised that IUI would be a good option for us. I have several more tests to go through to make sure nothing is wrong with me. My question is this...from your first consultion appt to the time you completed IUI how long is he process?

Hi Jmay0051!

The process can be as long or short as you'd like, really. As long as all your labs and HSG all come back normal. My process took a while because I did everything in intervals, since I wasn't quite ready yet. But once you've had all the tests done, your RE or (OBGYN) will set up a treatment plan with you. Meaning you guys will decide what medications, if any, fit your needs. I took Femara, a lot of people use Clomid to help your follicles grow. Some people go all natural. I also used Ovidrel, to make sure I'd ovulate in a certain time frame before the IUI. But once you have a treatment plan, and your prescriptions ordered, all you gotta do is wait for your next cycle day!

We found out about DH low sperm count and motility in May and we're now starting IUI number 1. Between that time DH was trying out supplements then clomid to see if he can get some improvement. Good luck '
