January IUI #3 and (maybe) final

Postby Delaney13 » Sat Jan 09, 2016 11:03 pm

Hey guys! I will have my 3rd IUI January 16th if everything goes as planned this month. Doctor is sending me to have HSG test this Monday and I'm pretty nervous something is going to be wrong. This last month everything went great; we had perfect levels, perfect time, and perfect sperm so I'm still trying to wrap my head around why it didn't work. Trying to stay hopeful for this month!

Doctor said chances go down drastically after 3 tries with IUI, anyone have conflicting conversations with their doctor?? Should I go ahead and prepare myself for IVF?

Anyone want to wait out together??

Delaney - I have heard IUI is successful in average 3-4 tries. But it depends on the factor. If everything looks good then it should work.

We are on our 4th IUI this month but our first using clomid. Last month was also perfect for us but I don't understand why it didn't work. I so I feel you there. I wish we were lucky like many first timers with IUI. I should be getting my positive opk this week and then off to IUI. I'd love to wait with other IUI ladies.

Mrz - I hope you get your bfp this month

I hope we all get our +++ this month!!

Hi, I thought I'd share what I've heard and what I've experienced. I don't know much about the medicated side of IUI, but I've heard that on average it takes 3 tries to work. Of course that's the average, some take less and some take more. For me, we did an IUI in January 2012 and got a bfp but ended in early miscarriage. We had another in March 2012 but was unsuccessful. We waited until September 2012 and that was the magic IUI. We now have a beautiful 2-year-old girl from our 3rd try (although there was a big gap between the iuis, so I'm not sure if you'd consider that the third). I also have a friend who it took many more tries, and now has a beautiful 2-year-old girl too.

Lots of baby dust and luck to you this cycle!

Hi Delaney... Looks like we're both back at it. I'm doing my 3rd and final IUI this month too. I'm going in for an ultrasound tomorrow to check my follicle size. Im hoping for 2 or 3 this time since they increased my clomid dose to 100mg. If all is well, they'll have me trigger tomorrow night for a Friday IUI. I'm hoping this round works for both of us - third time is a charm as they say :)

Good luck to everyone!
Muraski - I have a question. Is there a specific reason why you are having the ultrasound and trigger? My doc wouldn't do it because we are dealing with only male factor.
Dee - thanks for your input of IUI. You have given me hope!
Delaney & Mrz - it's almost time.

Fx for all of us.

@snowgirl, I do the US so they can track whether my follicles are mature enough to do the trigger, they want to see at least 1 follicle18mm. They also do a blood test to check my fsh, estradiol and LH levels to make sure the timing is right. If everything is in the right range then they tell me to trigger in the evening and I go in for the IUI 24-36hrs later. Does your RE do the blood test? I'm pretty much unexplained fertility but I have fibroids and they did a sonohystegram and they weren't in the way so we're trying IUI. DH doesn't have any issues.

Thanks Muraski. I hear a lot of girls and their docs doing extra monitoring. I just wanted to learn a little bit more about the process.

Here's to our bfps!

I had the IUI this morning; I had 2 mature follicles 25mm and 21mm so I'm hoping at least 1 sticks. At this point, DH and I would love twins. 2 week wait starts!
Delaney - did you end up doing yours today too?

Hey muraski glad to see you are back at it with me again this month. Yes, we did our IUI yesterday and all went well. At our sonogram, we only had 1 mature and 2 that were really close so they think by the time we triggered and did IUI they should have been good to go as well.

Thank you all so much for your IUI advice, talked to the doctor and he said he will make a plan that works for me but we haven't decided if this will be it or not. Just hoping we get ++ this time and we won't have to worry about it.

We were all unable to do the HSG so I think that will be next on the list if this month doesn't work. Anyone else have that done and the doctor not be able to insert the dye? I went to a touch imaging place and it was horrible!

Hoping for magical +++++ for everyone! Baby DUSTTTTT

Awesome! Good to have you as my tww buddy. I had the HSG dye test a few months ago. It was fine while they inserted the catheter. Once they pushed the dye through, I got really crampy and felt really full and bloated. It took 30 sec and the nurses were holding my hand during the procedire. The radiologist talked me through it every step of the way. Fortunately there was nothing blocking my tubes so counted it as a win. Hopefully you don't have to go through with it.
We're getting our bfp'so this time!
