CD 10, no maturing follicles?

Postby Puddles-O-Cuddles » Tue Apr 19, 2016 3:59 pm

Hey ladies,
I had a saline ultrasound today (to check my tubes and uterus, similar to having an HSG.) The results looked good, both tubes are open and uterus looks fine. However, the doc looked at my ovaries to get a slightly early peak at the follicles and ... There weren't any.
The doc didn't say much, and he didn't seem super concerned, but I am! Should I be? Has anyone else had no maturing follicles on CD10? This is after my first round of Clomid (50mg)

Hey Puddles,

Do you normally O around CD14? Some people don't respond to clomid or don't respond to a low dose of clomid by CD10.

For me, I was clomid-resistent, and I typically O around CD20-25 without any drugs. When I took a clomid dose, they noticed that my follicles weren't maturing on schedule by CD13, so they switched me to femara, and I responded right away. Unfortunately its an experiment at first to see which drug at what dose will work for you. Good luck!

Thanks for your response Scarlet!
Normally I O around CD16. The check on CD10 (which was actually CD9 when I looked at my calendar) was just an informal look to see what my ovaries were doing while I was having my saline ultrasound. I was concerned that the doc didn't see any "dominant follicles"...but honestly, I'm not sure what he should be seeing on CD9 at all. I have my first follicle check tomorrow, so I'm hoping that at least one is stepping up!
I saw that your BFP (congrats!) was on a cycle with BOTH Clomid and Femara. I've never seen both in one cycle...but it seems to have worked well for you!

Hey Puddles!

There is a good chance that it was too early for a dominant follicle by CD9 - FX that you get your big beautiful follicles at your next check!

Yes, my BFP cycle was the cycle where the RE realized I was clomid resistent lol. I did the typical clomid dose and when I went to the RE mid cycle, he said my follicles didn't look close to maturing by CD13 and were just kinda sitting at the same size for days. He labeled me clomid resistent and immediately put me on Femara. Femara worked like a charm! I wish I could say the 2 drugs were planned, but it was more like we were fumbling through that cycle! Lol.

Baby dust! Ill keep watching your status for updates!

Gotcha! That's crazy, but hey! It worked!!

I had my follicle scan today, and they didn't give me numbers, but said that I had a dominant follicle plus 3 more that they measured too (and even though the u/s tech didn't seem super impressed or excited, I am! Because I saw them on the screen and to my untrained eye they looked not too much smaller than the "big" one!) Regardless, they aren't mature yet, so I'll get another follicle check on Monday and if they are still immature, then I'll get a trigger shot. So it's all rolling!

Thanks for asking!
I had a re-check today, which showed a 16mm and a 10.5mm follicle on the left side and none on the right...so at least 2 good follicles, but they're growing at a snails pace. They were too small to trigger, so I've got another check on Thursday.
Frustrating but worth it!
