It's all weird. Something you count today, such as the first day of your period. You know what gets me? If I to get pregnant this time would be 11/5 based on my first day of my last period. Since since ovulate late it'd be 11/7 based on conception date. It's only 2 days difference but still haha

Prayingforredhead - I’m glad you had a good time at the lodge. That’s an awesome idea to take vacation during fertile window. We might need to do that.

So IUI #2 I think failed. I got a BFN this morning. I am schedule for blood test tomorrow. I honestly felt like the timing was off this IUI. I feel like I ovulated the day before insemination. But I trusted the docs because they are monitoring me. Trying do decide if we should go straight into IUI #3. This would be our last try with IUI. But I have hope because we got BFP on first IUi in November and we really don’t want to be headed towards IVF

Lyn- sorry about your BFN. I am hopeful that there is still a chance for a BFP with your blood draw. As far as going straight away, I think you should go for it. That’s our plan if this 2nd cycle doesn’t work.

The whole timing thing is so critical, Babydreams asked me about feeling when I ovulated ...and since I don’t ovulate on my own..I don’t know what I’m looking for...this time I really tried to decipher if this cramp or that twinge was ovulation and I can’t say for sure...what I did notice differently about this time is I never got the EWCM or change down there to a good sperm friendly CM...I was also drier down there this month. Hoping that’s not a bad sign?!?

Lyn, still hoping for good news for you! It's hard when you're trusting the doctors.
My last 2 IUI's were done at 24 hours post trigger shot. Both times I ovulated about 12-14 after the IUI. Both ended with BFN. They said it wasn't a problem, but we have MFI so we need the IUI as close to ovulation as we can get. This time I think I ovulated about 5 hours after the IUI. I agree to go straight to the next IUI. From what I've read success is greater when they are done consecutively. I did take a month break when we got our BFN on 12/26, but that was partly financial since it was right after Christmas. It took us 4 IUI's to get pregnant with our son.
Prayingforourredhead, it does feel like a twinge near your ovaries. Sometimes you'll feel a slight twinge throughout your cycle as the follicle(s) grow. When I'm on fertility meds ovulation actually hurts really bad for a few hours. It wakes me up if I'm sleeping. It is a lot like cramps. They say it lasts for a few seconds to a few hours. With doing an IUI I would think that not having EWCM wouldn't be as big of a deal since it's there to help sperm get past the cervix? Not completely sure on that.

Babydreams- I definitely had some cramps and twinges, but nothing lasted more than a few seconds at a time.
Last night I had trouble falling asleep as I was cramping but I think that was directly related to the IUI.
Also sounds like your timing was really spot on this time.

I think that pain might have been ovulation! My doc told me that when you use ovidrel it can make ovulation hurt more since it's basically forcing ovulation. She could have been trying to make me feel better when I said it hurt lol

I don’t think I know what ovulation pain feels like. But this cycle I felt some soreness or like swelling for 3 hours straight. It bothered me when I sat down at work or stop up and started walking it was really strange. I believe it was the next day after ovidrel shot and it was the evening before IUI so I figured it was ovulation pain. But hopefully it wasn’t abd he feels like the twinges you all are saying.

Crossing my fingers for a surprise BFP at 14dpo. Last IUI I didn’t get BFP until 14dpo. No signs of AF right now and BBT is still elevated

Soshy- keep us posted on US good luck

Babydreams- I know your office does IUI 24 hours after trigger. My office does IUI 41 hours after trigger. I think it seems weird to wait until after ovulation but it work on IUI #1. They said they want the egg already waiting for Sperm

They say the egg survives for 12-24 hours so even if you ovulated the night before you should be good! The pain you described sounds like what I get with ovulation. Google says sperm gets to the egg pretty quick with IUI. I've Google way too much LOL I agree with your clinic. My clinic wants the sperm waiting for the egg. I ask them tons of questions but my nurse is a tool & I swear she doesn't ask the doctor any of them. So it leaves me to Google, which says with an IUI sperm can swim past the fallopian tubes if there's no egg yet? I don't know. That's why I did this last one later. We have limited swimmers as it is so I don't want to lose any from swimming over the edge.

I found this article from the National Institute of Health about IUI timing

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2582119/

I felt those pains during the afternoon at work and IUI was 11am the next day. It just felt off.

I like that article. It makes sense. I had to push to get my IUI at 36 hours. It was only 34.5 hours because I couldn't get up with my alarm & slept until 4 am. I did read somewhere that it couldn't be successfully fertilized until 6 hours after ovulation. I wonder if the sperm stick with the egg at that point & wait? I think of the movie Look Who's Talking & imagine the sperm surrounding the egg until it lets them in haha but really, I do think later is better.
