First time IUI

Postby Kristinegallo14 » Wed Feb 21, 2018 6:28 pm

i had my first IUI on Monday, Feb 12th - specialist was unsuccessful with Femara as my follicles would not mature to the 18mm they needed for ovulation so they switched me to gonal injections mid way through and we finally had 3 Mature follicles so I triggered with pregnyl 10000 the morning before on February 11th .. (all the happening with one Week before my period was due - due on feb 18th. I started the vaginal progesterone injections twice a day and had my first blood test this past Monday to test my progesterone level where I was at 16.5
My first question is since I triggered so close to my period due date, does that mean my period is technically not late ? I am trying to search for signs but most people say I need to add two weeks after ovulation and that will be the day my period would then be due ?
Is it too early To try to take a pregnancy test ? I’m not sure if the symptoms I’m showing are related to pregnancy or progesterone as my boobs are sensitive , I’m breaking out on my face and i randomly feel cramps in my stomach that lead down to my vagina.

I am PCOS and was trying for over 2 years naturally before doing this first IUI and I do not want to get discouraged by taking a pregnancy test too soon .. my blood beta test is this coming Monday but I’m anxious to take a test .

Hi!
I have a similar story - PCOS using Gonal f and trigger injections as my body won't ovulate independently. We are now trying for baby #2 and have had 2 failed IUIs in Dec and Jan and just waiting to see if this one is successful, will find out next week.
From my experience, you will still have a 2 week wait. Your period or a pregnancy will take 2 weeks from the ovulation and IUI date. I would save your test for next week.
I am on the progesterone too and experience similar symptoms. It is very normal. I had vomiting during the last 2 cycles from them, Dr said just an unfortunate side effect.

Common side effects may include:

dizziness, confusion, drowsiness, tiredness;
headache, mood changes, feeling nervous or irritable;
stomach pain, nausea, diarrhea, constipation;
bloating, swelling in your hands or feet;
breast pain, swelling, or tenderness;
cramps, pelvic pain; or
vaginal itching, burning, or discharge.

I hope your little egg is working it's magic - you could be implanting this week!
All the best

Good Luck on your beta today. I took a HPT and it was negative, still going in for my beta but I think this cycle is lost. Gearing up for the next

Hi. How are you doing? Good luck with your procedure. But if this doesn't work out, don't lose hope. IVF is what best works for women with PCOS. You can try that if IUI doesn't work. There are fewer chances of IUI to work here though. Stay hopeful.

Hey there. I can understand your anxiety. It's natural and very common. My advice to you would be to not lose hope. Plus remember you can always opt for IVF. It's a better option for women suffering from PCOS. Good luck!

Hallo Ladies. Had my first ever IUI Monday the 4th of June. Lots of cramping here and there. 3dpiui woke up with headache and again this morning. Left burning sensation where my ovaries are. Really really hope it's a BFP in the end. This ttw is insane mentally I just want to get a test and test but know it's way too early. Any advise or someone in the same boat?

Stay positive. The wait is the hardest part. Don't test early would be my advise. And find things to distract you. I got pregnant on my fourth IUI (i'm almost 11 weeks) and I tested the night before and could not figure out if it was an evaporation line or a real pink line. It made me even crazier to get the blood work results back. You got this! Sending you positive energy!
