New to Injectables Need Advise

Postby Vickytoria » Sun Oct 28, 2012 7:35 pm

Hi all!

So after 3 MC, 3 yrs TTC, Clomid up to 250mg and 2 failed attemps at Femera, I changed RE's twice I am finally checked and ok'd for injectables. Clomid and Femera worked slightly but I O'd really really late. So I am on Gonal F 75iu per day this cycle. I have PCOS so I was wondering if this is a normal dose to start with. I also found out I have a low ovariarn reserve FSH 10.2 borderline, subclinical hypothroidism which I got a drug for called Synthroid.

I want to hear your stories/advise so i know what to expect. I have taken 2 shots and haven't has any SE except for my BBS are tender. What side effects did you have and what dosage where you taking.

I also want to know if anyone moved from clomid/femeral to injectables if the injectables gave them a better outcome.

Sorry for all the questions, I'm a pro at clomind, femera and iui but this is uncharted territory for me!

Wish I could help you. I am on my last try (#5) with Femara and on Thursday I am going to "discuss my future" which he informed me mean injectables. Scared to see how much they cost...AHHH! I will let you know what my Doctor says and suggests with respect to dose though. It sounds like we are in a similar situation...but I have never tried IUI. I skipped clomid and went right to Femara, but I also have PCOS too. I've tested for subclinical hypothyroidism in my past too, but lately it is fine. i've been on metformin to regulate insulin and PCOS.

I also have PCOS and my TTC history is in my signature. I really didn't respond to clomid or femara at all alone, but a combination of femara, repronex or follistim, and ovidrel at least got me pregnant. My first round of femara and injectables looked like it was a failure and my RE told me he was baffled by my lack of response and cancelled my cycle. I ended up ovulating on my own a week later. My RE realized that I'm just slow to respond and needed more days of stimulation than most women. We tried to tweak things to get me to ovulate earlier I my cycles without any luck. No matter how we adjusted the dosages, I was never ready to trigger before CD16. Higher dosages just lead to more mature follicles...something we wanted to avoid after learning I had incompetent cervix.

75iu of follistim sounds like a good starting point. It might need to be adjusted up or down from there, but its better to be cautious your first round if you have PCOS since a bunch of follicles might decide to mature all at once. I used 5 mg of femara CD3-7, then started 100-150iu of follistim or 150u of repronex from CD7 until trigger. I had anywhere from 1 to 4 mature follicles this way.

Good luck!

Sent home waited on estidol levels they came over 300. Told to keep stimming at 225 iu. Went back 11/7 Two follies one on each side measuring 18 and 16.5 multiple small some as big as 11. Told to stim 1 more day (11/7) at 75 iu only. Then ovidrel shot this a.m. and IUI tomorrow morning.
