I'm currently on my second day of provera to induce AF and hopefully get started with a round of femara and follistim by the end of the month! I'm so excited and nervous. DH is nervous about things and just wants to take it one cycle at a time. Anyone else gearing up for an injectable cycle soon?

Hi ladies! I know this forum doesn't get a lot of action, but I hope you come back and check! I'd love to chat! I'm going to my RE tomorrow for my CD 2 bloodwork and u/s. I'm going to be starting Follistim with Ovidrel for this next IUI. As far as I know, those are the only meds this cycle, but I guess I'll find out tomorrow. I just got AF last night after a failed IUI cycle with only Clomid and Ovidrel. I'm really hoping that this next IUI is successful, but my RE isn't overly optimistic. I'd love to wait with you ladies!

hi hawkeye, thanks. I noticed in ur sig. dat u had mason the month right after a miscarraige...im hoping my re isnt going to make me skip a month bc of my chemical pregnancy... if u dont mind me asking, were u on injectibles when conceiving mason? or was it a natural cycle... im going to hear my results of hcg tomorrow...

hi choob... I find myself liking injectibles more than clomid bc Ifeel the re can tweek the dosage if the follicles arnt going acvordingly, of course it can be frusyrating bc u can overstimulate... but wit clomid, its just a pill and thete is no tweeking during the cycle..

good luck ladies!

Hoping: That's great news that you get to proceed with the next cycle! All of my pregnancies were conceived on combo cycles. The first one was a combo of femara, follistim, and repronex. The next two were femara, repronex, and ovidrel. My chemical pregnancy was just follistim and ovidrel. Finally, Mason was conceived using femara, follistim and ovidrel. I only had one mature follicle when I conceived Mason, so I was certain that month was going to be another failure. I was so happy when I was wrong! We're hoping that I'll have success with the same combination of medications this time.

Amanda: :welcome: Good luck with your u/s and bloodwork! Hopefully you'll find success with the new medication protocol. :)

AFM, I'm on day 4 of 10 days of provera to induce AF. I've only had AF show two times since I had Mason and one of those times it was also induced :( I was hoping I would be one of the lucky ones that got normal cycles back after giving birth, but no luck. I'm getting anxious to get going with things again.

Hi ladies!! I'm so happy to see responses on this part of the boards!!

Hawkeye...I'm so sorry that your cycles didn't return to normal after your pregnancy. I hope that by doing the same type of medicated cycle that you used to conceive Mason, you get your BFP and can be AF free for 9 mos without having to worry about your cycle!

Hoping...thanks for sharing that you liked the injectables better than Clomid. That makes me feel so much better! Clomid was not a pleasant experience for me. I had horrible hot flashes (worse than what I usually get) and I felt like a mad woman towards the end of the Clomid cycle. I seriously felt like my body was just a coiled ball of tension ready to snap. I was definitely emotional and bitchy, but I literally felt the tension in my body. I did not like it, obviously. I've been told the injectables are easier as far as mood swings. So, I'm hoping it's true! And, yay for getting the green light for TTC!! I'm so sorry for your loss, but so happy that you won't have to wait to try again.

I look forward to sharing our experiences together! I'm going to be praying that you both get your BFP's this cycle!!

Afm...went to my RE's and had my bloodwork and u/s. I was told during the bloodwork that I would probably start the Follistim today or tomorrow. Then I had the u/s. I have zero follies on my right ovary. When she looked at the left ovary, she discovered that I now have a 19 mm cyst on it, caused by the meds of the last cycle. So, she was going to wait for my levels to come back before deciding what to do about the cyst. I guess I'll find out tomorrow if I'll be able to continue this cycle or if I have to take a break because of the stupid cyst.

Amanda: I'm so sorry about the cyst :( Hopefully it won't delay things for you. I agree that injectables seem to have a lot fewer side effects than clomid. When I first started TTC in 2009, I did a few Clomid cycles. I didn't respond to the first two, then had weird visual side effects with the third cycle and was told that I probably shouldn't take it ever again. I tried femara by itself as well, but didn't ovulate. Even with injectables, it takes slightly higher doses than normal for someone with PCOS, but since we know what works now I'm hopeful that it won't take as long this time around. I'm still a bit worried about the chances of a loss again though since we had so many before finally having my son.

Hawkeye - so sorry bout your losses... i read your blog, it made me cry... i really hope that your period will come so you can start the process sooner rather than later!

Choob- i hope that cyst will go away so you can start the injectibles... really hope you don't have to take a break, i personally know how frustrating this can be!

Afm, came back from the RE, asked if there is anyway we can prevent pregnancy, he said no, but we can reduce it by doing ivf, my insurance doesn't pay for ivf, so that sucks! he says, with iui, everything is internal, so it's a hit and miss with the eggs. he also said that chemical pregnancies are due to abnormal chromosomes, and most likely due to my egg and not the sperm... sometimes nature/body spits out the bad eggs first... so, he told me dat although we're moving forward with this iui, the week dat i'm finding out whether it's going to work or not, he will be on vacation for two weeks, he told me to go to my obgyn... i told him i don't have one, i have a family doctor, he looked at me weird like how can you not have a obgyn? do you ladies have one? i mean, my family doctor performs my annual, pap, and breast exam... he said family doctor is good, but obgyn is better... he suggested dat i go get a obgyn and establish a relationship with him/her... well i told him dat i have hmo insurance so i need a referral so he suggested i go and call the family doctor and ask her to put in a request...

anyway, so i asked him, well if i fall pregnant this time around, don't you keep me a little bit longer until i would be referred to a obgyn? he said, no, b/c if your pregnancy is doomed to be miscarried anyway in the first trimaster, it will happen no matter what you do, whether you lose it at 4 weeks, 8 weeks, or 12 weeks.... people think he has a magic pill or something, but he doesn't... but he can prescribe progersterone for me, but there's no proven fact that progesterone works for iui patients, patients ask for it, and since it makes them feel better, he prescribes them... but it works for more ivf patients... man, he can be very blunt sometimes... but i'm glad he's blunt than beating around the bushes...

so i really hope this will be it... if not then i have to skip a month and wait until november when he comes back from his vacation...

he did ultrasound today and b/w... left/right ovary less than 10... he will call me with my estradiol...

have a great weekend ladies!

Nicole: :welcome: and good luck this month! It sounds like I'll be a week or less behind you and using a similar combination of medications. :)

Hoping: Thanks, I hope things will get moving soon too. I'm getting so anxious! I know that my RE told me that with all of their patients they like to prescribe prometrium during the luteal phase of treatment cycles regardless of their loss history. I go to them for my initial ultrasounds and after there is a good strong heartbeat, they discharge me to an MFM because of my incompetent cervix. I will have a cerclage placed around 12 weeks, then start share care with an OB around 16 weeks if everything goes smoothly. Getting established with an OB/GYN now probably wouldn't be a bad idea because that way you'll have an established relationship with them when you do get pregnant. Also, they're going to have a bit more knowledge and expertise on infertility and pregnancy related things than a family doc would.

AFM Day 6 of 10 on the Provera. I hate this pill! I've already noticed that it's really affecting my mood and pretty much making me hate everyone and everything. :( I hope AF shows up soon so that I can be done with it.
