Hey fellow TTCrs...
After my failed IVF in November, I decided to try what my insurance will cover: Just menopur and Ovidrel (coh- controlled ovarian hyperstimulation cycle) with timed intercourse.
I was monitored closely... Ended up with two decent follies after 150 IU's of Menopur for 7 days...though based on them being 12, 13, and 15mm at day six of stimming, I am thinking one probably only reached maturation? Hoping my RE was not being too cautious. Triggered after 7 days of stims...then baby danced all around up to and after possible ovulation times. Also started progesterone support (suppositories) 3 days after trigger.
Currently 11 days past trigger, meaning I could be anywhere from 9-10 days past ovulation... POAS this afternoon and got a BFN. Could be too early... But I am really not too hopeful after so many failed attempts. I am just trucking along and trying every month and every way that I can (since IVF took all our money)
I am wondering if anyone else is doing a cycle with these meds... And with timed intercourse. Not IUI... The success rate is higher, I know...but Insurance won't cover an injectable cycle and IUI. Just timed intercourse. I can switch to an oral med cycle like chlomid or letrozole again and pay for an IUI (which I did twice before IVF) but I want to find out if the injectables help me out more.
Any one else out there try out this combo?
Any success stories?

Hi there, not sure if you are still checking this thread but just wondering if the injections with baby dance worked for you? We are going to do the same thing next cycle... Just wonder how successful it is?

Hey, I don't get on here too often anymore, but it did tonight! Thinking of being more active on the boards again. My first injectable coh cycle failed... My second in which I am now in the TWW for, ended up being very long because of a dosage mistake where my dr. Lowered my injections, and my estrogen bottomed out and follies stopped growing... But we were able to up the dose and recruit some new ones. I am currently 7 days past trigger. Where are you in your injectable cycle? Sorry I saw is post so late! Hope things are going good for you so far!

Thanks for the response! I'm actually 7 days past trigger too and 5dpo. I had 4 follies, two on either side. I was on Gonal F and Femara, and ovidrel, very similar to your protocol. How are you feeling? Any symptoms? I have had very sore nipples since ovulation and now becoming sore breasts as well, but im assuming that's the side effects from the meds. I hope this works for the both of us!

4 follies is great! My doctor is very cautious on these cycles and usually does not like to see more than two or three that are dominant...no threat of canceling my cycle this time though, because I only ended up with two on the right side only.
My last COH cycle w/TI I felt nothing... With IVF and IUi's I at least always had some ovulation cramps that let me know things were working...and I also use Progesterone suppositories, and they give me crazy symptoms...but last cycle, nothing! This time, I am feeling some activity again, so that makes me a little hopeful again. (Just hard to tell if it's from progesterone)
Starting two days ago sore bb's... Lower back ache... (Which progesterone does to me) ugh... Frustrating how these drugs can mimic pregnancy symptoms! But one new symptom that I haven't had with a cycle before, is morning dizziness. Not sickness, but just a feeling of imbalance and weakness while I am walking (I walk dogs for a job..lol) I usually stop feeling the dizziness in the late afternoon.
Do you test early? I used a dollar store test yesterday and it looked stark white... But when I looked at it later there was a slight presence (I think) of a line...which could be the trigger. I am skipping today and then testing tomorrow. My 35th birthday is Friday.,.and my mother is flying into town... I am just hoping and praying I may finally have good news this time!
Since we are so close on a similar cycle... I will consider you my TTC buddy on here this cycle!
will keep your cycle in hopes and prayers as well! Keep me posted on symptoms!!!

Hi Kylie, you're so sweet, thanks for keeping me in your prayers, I will do the same for you as we'll
I'm currently 8dpo, I'm on progesterone suppositories too and I have really sore nipples and have had them since the day I ovulated. Other than that's have no symptoms..... I'm not very optimistic for this cycle.
I tested this morning with a dollartree test and it was a BFN... I will most likely test again on Saturday.
Happy Birthday!! That's so nice that your mom is coming to visit! I hope you have a very special day!

I am with you on not being very optimistic... I've tested on dollar tree tests last few days and stark white.
I'd like to stop progesterone, but my dr. Requests I don't until a blood test or until AF shows. I will be going straight into one more cycle of the same protocol. What are your plans if it's BFN? I hope it's positive for you, though!

I have a beta tomorrow morning so I will know for sure by tomorrow afternoon. However, I'm not feeling any different, even the sore nipples went away.... So next cycle we are going to do the same protocol: Femara, Gonal F, Trigger and prometrium. Onto trying for a Christmas baby

Well I am still hoping your beta was positive today! If not... Onward to the next try and I will still be praying for you! I am not able to get in for my beta until Wednesday morning. The last test I took was a Sunday (bfn) I am pretty surprised that I am not at least spotting yet... By Wednesday it will be 17 days past trigger. Last cycle I started my period even while on progesterone... This time, I guess for some reason it's holding my period off. Hubby tries to stay hopeful but that would be a crazy late implanter to not show on a test 14dp trigger...(I think?) not many symptoms left for me either... Just occasional cramps, and fatigue. Hope we can keep in touch the next time around!

Hi Kylie, any updates?? How did the beta go? Mine was negative and AF showed today. On to the next cycle.... Thanks for the support, it means a lot! Keep me updated with your progress.

AF showed up yesterday... But still had to get a blood test today. They forgot to call me with the result, but based on me knowing what a normal period is like for me... It's negative. No doctors are available to do my cycle again... So they put me on birth control again to hold off until someone can do my cycle. It's frustrating for me... I hate going on birth control!
tentatively, they can see me for my suppression scan on April 7th and if things are nice and quiet, we will start the stimming then. I guess I should just be thankful that our military base offers this... I can't afford IVF again, yet. This may be my last COH cycle. They mentioned only usually doing three. Do you have plans to stick with the same one until it works? If you have started your cycle... Wishing you the best!!! And keep me updated!

Hi Kylie, AF started for me yesterday, I had my day 2 ultrasound and bloodwork done and ill be using Gonal F and Femara and ovidrel again. How come you are on birth control? What does that do?
Thu Mar 27, 2014 3:21 pm
I first took birth control for my IVF cycle. (An entire month in advance) as well as another suppression medication called Lupron. On a smaller scale for a COH cycle, taking birth control keeps my body from preselecting a dominant follicle to start maturing... It keeps me suppressed so nothing is happening in there until the doctors are able to start monitoring my cycle. Then when we start stims again, I will stop birth control so the stims are telling the follicles what to do then.
Sun Mar 30, 2014 5:57 pm
Interesting, I didn't know that. How are you doing? I started my injections tonight.
Sun Mar 30, 2014 10:37 pm
Yay for injection time for you!!! (Ok...that sounds sadistic, lol) but I always get excited when it's stim time because it's like my hope reset button... Getting things going! Will pray you get some great follies!
I am just going about normal life right now... Which consists of dog walking and selling vintage shirts on ebay...lol. Trying to just feel happy and content and relax until April 7th. They will most likely have me start injections on that evening, or the next. I will also start a low dose steroid called dexamethasone... Studies have shown it can help women with Endo conceive... I've taken it each time around.
The birth control isn't getting to my mood too badly this time. I just think my hormones are a little out of whack because I am breaking out! That's kind of annoying.
Well... I am pulling for you! Keep in positive spirits!!!
