Ivf and explaining to older (tween) children

Postby darcidee » Mon Dec 05, 2016 9:41 pm

Hi everyone,

I'm looking to find anyone who is currently in my shoes as Google is giving me nothing!

I currently have an 11 year old daughter and am also starting my first round of ivf in a week. I'm just not sure how to explain all the injections, medications and crazy mood swings to her...

Is this something I should hide from her to protect her from getting hurt (that's a big topic for a tween!) Or should I let her in on the secret so she understands what's happening.

Any advice would be appreciated!!

Hello,i dont have a daughter and i can't really say what I would do but I think it depends on your relationship with her and if she will keep the secret.
You could explain that you are receiving medical help to get her a sibling and bcs of that you will be not ur self for a short while or you and ur partner could explain the whole process,is ur choice, you know what is best for her and you!!
Good luck!
