PCOS - Conceived Naturally with Acupuncture, Chinese Herbs!!

Postby BillsBaby » Mon Aug 29, 2011 11:35 am

So I've been stalking this site for a long time, at least a year, but never posted. I did take in a lot of valuable information and I'm eternally gratetful for the stories and experiences shared by the courageous ladies on this site.

I have PCOS, so this journey was long and arduous process. We started seriously ttc (charting, opk's, vitamins, herbs) 1 year ago in September. We had been ntnp for a year before that. I have known I went to the ob/gyn last Sept. and he immediately put me on Clomid. So for 3 cycles (off and on) I did that. It dried up my cm so bad, I knew it wasn't going to work. Even used Pre seed and Pre conceive plus, EPO, Fish Oil. It was when he suggested IUI the next cycle we were all but ready to do it BUT, the medical bills came in and my dh and I were not ready to commit to something that only has like a 20% success rate at best. I had an HSG that month (beginning of June) - All clear.

So, onto the acupuncture. I researched acupuncture online in June of this year and found a great INEXPENSIVE clinic which is in the Community Acupuncture format. Their website is www.getstuckonacupuncture.com There are many located throughout the country, so do a google search and find one in your area! (I know I sound like a commercial, lol)

I am convinced that the acupuncture once a week since June in combination with the Chinese herbs helped me concieve (one of the ingredients in one of the pills was Vitex). She recommended my DH do Acu to increase his sperm motility, count but he is queasy about needles.

My DH also had 2 SA's done in May, June (before we were to start IUI)
The first was not good, at 12 million/ml and I don't know the motility. The second, after I made him choke down some Fertility Blend, was better at 29 mil/ml w/ 66% motility. Still not perfect. Also, I might add, my DH drinks. Like a lot. I had to cut him down to only on the weekends and I thought that would never happen. He occassionally smokes, too. SO I had to deal with HIM through all this. GAH! Anyway, I told him if he was gonna keep drinking and smoking with bad SA results, he had to take MORE supplements!

So, this is what DH took:
ASTATHANTHIN - 8mg/day (Bioastin is the name of the brand. I saw on Dr. Oz that it is way more powerful antioxidant than Vitamin C, got on Amazon.com)
Fertility Blend - 2 capsules/day
CoQ10 - 100mg/day
Zinc - 66mg (whatever the 1 tablet dose is)

The only thing I took other than the herbs was Women's One -a Day multivitamin

On a cautious note, I have been having spotting since ovulation, which is sadly normal for me and is of concern, but am about to go to the doc to check it out. I just couldn't contain my excitement and wanted everyone to know that it IS possible, even if you get down, and man oh man, did I get realllly low, just keep on it! Even if you have to kill your DH in the process. haha. Oh, and our BD pattern this cycle was on CD 13,17,19,20, with ovulation on CD21. Used CBE digital opk's this cycle, got a pos opk on CD20.

OMG, I can't believe it still!!! Fingers Crossed on the way to the ob/gyn now!!

Took a FRER on 11dpo got a VERY faint pink line (had to take it out of the case, and DH didn't see it/believe me). On 12dpo, this morning, took another one, and very noticeable pink line and today at lunch after a 3 hour hold, got a positive on a CB digital. :)

Thanks for sharing about your acupuncture experience. I'm trying the same thing this coming Thursday (9/8). First time for me. She mentioned something about putting me on an herb supplement too.

Did you notice any side effects from the herbs? I am super sensitive to medication (even though I know this isn't a medication per say.)

I have always wanted to try acupuncture and this is giving me an excuse. It does cost a pretty penny though... I might have to research the website you suggested if I don't love this person. We'll see on Thursday.

Anyway, thanks for sharing.

Just wanted to update my true success story! I had lots of bleeding, I mean, heavy period flow for a few days,, I was sure was miscarrying. At 8 weeks my doctor finally checked my progesterone which was borderline and put me on suppositories til around 13 weeks. The bleeding finally stopped, but after an episode of bleeding that freaked me out and sent me to the ER at 10 weeks. Baby was fine on ultrasound. The bleeding finally stopped, and hasn't happened since. The Dr. couldn't give a good explanation, but I think it was a hemmorage outside of the gestational sac. Anyway. Baby is 21 weeks old and a GIRL! It's odd though because after all this time ttc and then freak out moments while pregnant, it doesn't seem real or that I entirely trust it will go to term. Sad, I guess, but this process is so tortuous, it's hard not to feel this way.

Recently I have got something about BioAstin, so feeling well to share it

BioAstin shows its favorable effect by trapping free radical which is harmful to body e.g. they increase aging process and damage different system of body including function of heart and circulation.

BioAstin, a high potency natural antioxidant with therapeutic benefits.
Nutrex Hawaii BioAstin natural astaxanthin represents a microalgae breakthrough.
Although not a replacement for the whole food nutrition of Hawaiian Spirulina, BioAstin represents a new class of microalgae products with an antioxidant profile and direct functional applications. Nutrex Hawaii is the first company to have launched BioAstinT. And, with an estimated 10,000 species of microalgae, there is a rich variety of products supporting human health waiting for discovery.

And Another Update!!!

Postby BillsBaby » Sun Aug 19, 2012 11:55 am

Well, I had a successful pregnancy and produced a very healthy baby girl at 41 weeks! Better late than never, right? She's 13 weeks old today. The birth was a crazy experience and don't want to go through that again, but that's a long story. I would do it again in a heartbeat for her, however! Just keep the faith that IT WILL HAPPEN TO YOU! I'm already planning on the next one. Not straight up-TTC, but NTNP, if you know what I mean! ;) Good Luck, Ladies! MIRACLES DO HAPPEN! :D
