9 MOS PG ITCHY TUMMY HELP!!!

Postby Angelnlove07 » Mon Dec 10, 2012 9:32 pm

I'm not sure if anyone on here will be able to help me with this but I thought I'd try. I am 9 mos pg well I'm actually due in 4 days and my stomach is sooo itchy I am itching it raw :/ I have tried stretch mark cream, lavender lotion, baby powder, medicated powder, baby oil, warm water, even triple moisture lotion nothing is working!!! I know a itchy belly is normal during pregnancy but my clothes irritate it when I sweat at night it irritates it I lost so much sleep from being so itchy. I'm not sure if its normal to be this overly itchy or not or how to soothe it...if anyone has advice I'd greatly appreciate it

I'm no expert but itching can be a sign of problems with the liver so may be best to check it out with the dr?x

Don't stress to much! Itchy skin in pregnancy just means it's stretching. Trust me I've had two babies and just conceived #3. GL with delivery and enjoy the baby. They grow up so quick.!!!

Try the Gold Bond medicated powder morning and night, use after benedryl clear gel if you need something a little extra.

As PP mentioned, it can be a more serious condition than just stretching, but if that is all it is, try something called Grandpa's Pine Tar Soap. It smells like you are bathing in a campfire, but it worked wonderfully for me. With DS, I was scratching until I bled (turned out I had something called a PUPP rash). This soap was the only thing that I found that worked. I found it through several online forums of women with complaints of belly itching. You can get it at GNC and probably Whole Foods. It's cheap and worked well for me...but again, it smells awful. It'll stink up your whole bathroom or house if you don't keep the bathroom door closed.

Good to know! I had PUPPS three times in my pregnancies. What worked for me, albeit it was very time consuming, was washing morning and night, and then using hydrogen peroxide followed by the clear benedryl gel topped with Gold Bond Medicated Powder. The washing/hydrogen peroxide dried up the rashes, and the benedryl and powder kept me cool and dry, thus non-itchy. I really hope I never get it again! It's miserable, but knowing about that soap sounds like an easier alternative.
