7 years TTC: finally a BFP

Postby Sammehism » Wed Dec 16, 2015 2:18 pm

For the past almost 7 years my husband and I have been trying. I mean really trying. We have gone 9 years with no protection ever.

We have dealt with fertility specialists to try and control my pcos and do something to help. Nothing was working and I got discouraged and stopped going about 2 years ago.

Last year my husband had to be in South Korea for a year. I stayed home and focused on myself. I decided to go more hardcore into my low carb diet to help my insulin resistance. I lost a little weight but noticed my periods getting regular. He got back in August and we decided to try like crazy again.

On Dec 2nd I got my first ever positive opk. Based on charting I should have ovulated around the 4th.

On 8,9,10dpo I got all bfn.

Early on 11dpo (2am) I got a faint line on a frer.

I went to bed and when I woke up I used fmu on another. Very faint positive. I said heck it and tried a clear blue digital. BFP 1-2 weeks.

12dpo. Still faint on frer. But 3 more clearblue digital. Went in at 8am for a blood test by my doctor.

12dpo at 11 am got the results. POSITIVE!

It is still early in the game but this is our first and our first ever positive even hpt. I'm mildly freaking out.

I hope all you long time TTCers get results you all so deserve! Baby dust to all!

Congrats, Sam!

Did you do anything specific that you think caused the success? Must be such a relief after all these years.

The only thing I really did different was use a small amount of preseed. I don't need lube but I used it and hey. I used it in the past before but I wasn't as regular period wise. So I think it helped more now.

Congrats!! I suggest getting progesterone levels checked so if they are low, you can supplement right away if necessary!!

I went to the Dr yesterday for light bleeding and cramping. To soon to see anything on ultrasound but an empty sac, but they are hopeful as my levels are in the proper range for being 5 weeks. (1500) I go back monday as they want to rule out eptopic. Levels otherwise are good.

Do you find that pressed is awkward? I mean, you guys are in the moment and then having to be like "wait let me go put the preseed in?" or to plan your BDing?

No I didn't find preseed awkward. I usually told the hubs it was going time and went upstairs and used it 5 minutes before he came up. With trying so long any time during possible ovulation we are almost on like a schedule. Which is more awkward for me, but he doesn't care.
