We are all doing great and Sapphire is already super protective of Ari. Once she told my mom (who was holding him) that he was "Mommy's Ari" and wanted her to give her back to me until I said it was OK. Another time, she had brought him some stuffed animals and when my husband went to pick them up and put them away she made her grump face and told him those were "Ari's animals!" and to "give them back."
The labor story is a crazy one. We went in to the hospital at 6:30 Monday morning for my induction. After waiting about an hour (grrr) we finally got put in a room and got things rolling. I was still only 2cm dilated and they said my cervix was still pretty thick. They started me on Pitocin about 9. And then we waited. They kept coming in to check on my contractions, but nothing was happening. After about 6 hours of continued steps up in Pitocin level, I was up to 3cm. Things kept going on like this ALL DAY. My family and I were playing board games in the hospital because there was that little happening with my body. I was SO frustrated. I really thought this little man was never going to be born. I finally started getting some more noticeable contractions, but they were inconsistent and didn't seem to be doing much. The nurse called them "dysfunctional." That's what you want to hear...I had been on clear liquids all day and was about ready to eat someone, so they let me have a light dinner around 7 because nothing was going on. At about 11, the doctor came in and broke my water in the hopes of moving things along. Woah, buddy, did it ever! By 11:15 I was having consistent painful contractions and asked for an epidural. That took a little while coming, but my husband was great and getting me to breathe slowly and steadily. Finally, got the epidural in. My contractions were still rather painful and required a lot of focused breathing to get through, but I think it took the edge off. Either way, things were happening FAST now. The nurse checked me and said I was ready. They had me start to push and after the first push could see his head. They actually had me stop pushing because the doctor wasn't there yet. Well, about 2 pushes later at 12:24 in the morning, Ari came into the world. I guess he really just wanted to be born on 12/29. It is my dad and stepmom's anniversary, so I told them he was their present. It was an amazingly fast delivery, which did cause some tearing, but it was such an amazing relief after all the waiting around. Little man is on his own schedule.
He is doing great back at home and nursing like a champ. He likes to be held all the time--totally different from Sapphire--which can make nighttime a little tricky, but he is doing better with the bassinet.

Oh wow what a beautiful story!! Oh I am so happy to hear that he is here and healthy!!! Thank you for sharing your story too!!
I can't wait to share my birth story with you guys as well!!
Did you have any contractions before your due date?? On Monday I go in to the midwives to get checked. I'm 36 weeks, so I'm hoping he comes around 38/39 weeks

I did have some, but they were very inconsistent. I'd get short bouts of them and then nothing,
Good luck! I look forward to the updates.

Yeah same here with symptoms... Although, I do get a LOT of pressure, so I am hoping that is a sign my cervix is thinning out.

I'm so excited for you! A little closer everyday to the arrival of your new little one!!
I am doing great. The stitches from my tearing see still uncountable at times, but generally not bad. Ari is back above his birth weight. So that is awesome. Still up a lot at night, but he is doing better going to sleep in the bassinet. Sapphire adores him and continues to be very protective, which is sweet to see. Tomorrow will be my first morning with both kids and hubby back at work. A little nervous about that, but I'm sure I'll figure it out.

Sorry I was away this whole time. I had come back a few times over a couple weeks and no one had posted anything so I thought everyone had drifted away since we all got pregnant. I'm glad to see posts and people staying in touch.
I'm doing great. My sweet little Ainsley Anne is amazing! I don't have time to go ALL the way back through the threads but will try to skim through and at least catch as many pictures as possible. I did get to read your birth story Mandi...WOW! When he was ready to come, he was ready to come, lol. He's just perfect and handsome! Congratulations!
Hope you are holding your LO in you arms Momma3!!!

Awww....she is precious, Turtle!!! It is SO great to hear from you and I'm glad everything is going well. Little Ari and I are getting along great. He slept almost 5 hours at once last night, which was awesome!! That isn't consistent yet, but his stretches are definitely getting longer.
