Trying to Conceive Forum

Anyone think about Adopting? I am very sad about this but really want to start a family... I just wish I would have had a baby first and then adopted because what if my motherly instincts don't kick in? Or what if we adopt and then get pregnant right away, I wouldn't want our adoptive child to feel like different. Idk, all these thoughts

I'm there. But I am thinking embryo adoption so I can experience pregnancy. It's cheaper than adoption too. I just haven't been able to get my DH to let go of a genetic connection.

And if my body can't support a pregnancy, then hell, Idk...

Adoption is a big, big decision. But I only really started giving it more thought as DH and I neared having to go the IVF route simply because we couldn't afford $14,000 on a 'chance'. I would have rather spent that money on adoption were I knew in the end, we'd be parents. But DH wasn't sure about adoption. He wanted a baby of 'his own' so I researched adoption on my own to present him with the choice... our last IUI/Injects cycle worked though. Don't give up hope

Have you been to an RE yet? Had any tests done? Having a baby isn't out of your grasp just because you've been trying for a year.

I've been trying over a year and am about to turn 36 so I've recently done extensive research on adoption, domestic and international. It is a very long, extensive, grueling process, and expensive. If you are seriously considering it, it doesn't hurt to educate yourself as much as possible so if you decide adoption is for you, you are ready to start the process. Another option that is much cheaper and may be "quicker" is foster a child to eventually adopt. That is what I'm looking into now. In the meantime, I will continue to try to get pregnant.
