Brown spotting 4-5 days after IUI?? What is it?

Postby prophywife » Mon May 21, 2012 10:11 am

So...I want some best guesses or if somebody has had this happen to them before, please reply!!

I had my IUI about 5 days ago. Yesterday (Day 4) I went to the restroom and wiped and there was the faintest brownish discharge. I stared at it for awhile trying to determine if I was actually imagining it.

The 2nd time I went to the bathroom and wiped I had it again and even showed the toilet paper to DH to make sure I wasn't seeing things. He agreed there was super faint brown discharge.

(On a side note, isn't it funny how all privacy goes out the window when you're married and TTC? I bet my DH didn't know he was signing up for that! haha)

Today Day 5 I had a little more brown spotting - not excessive, but noticeable. There are a few individual brown spots in my underwear too.

Has anyone had this before?
Any ideas what it is?
Could this truly be implantation bleeding?
Has anyone had this and NOT been pregnant?

I have had ZERO pregnancy symptoms. Every day since the IUI I have had maybe a few dull aches in my uterus...mostly on the right side, some on the left, but I have had this in other cycles and had BFNs.

The nurse at my RE's office says the spotting could be from intercourse due to increased blood flow to the cervix - yet I haven't had sex since Friday night.

Thanks ladies!!

Well I guess it could be good or bad. I had IUI in April for the first time and I had brown spotting (that was heavier than you described) around day 8. The brown spotting continued all the way til I got my period and I was bummed. My doctor did tell me however that some women get spotting when the egg implants and normally that happens earlier than I had...so if it happened to you on day 4 that could be a good thing! I just did IUI again on the 18th so I am waiting to see as well. Lets hope and pray that it will work for both of us this month! Hope that helped...at least a little!

Hmm seems early for implantation. Maybe it was from irritating the cervix when you had your IUI and it's old blood finally making it's way out. GL!
