Early Pregnancy Symptoms and Big Fat Positives
39 next month and first ever BFP!
My husband and I got married in March 2015. I was 37 and he was 42. We were both morbidly obese @ 275#(me) and 445#(him). I was also suffering from severe fibromyalgia.
We started trying immediately to get pregnant but I wasn't overly hopeful because I felt so unhealthy. We tried eating "healthy" and lost some weight but we were hungry all the time. After 6 months we went to a fertility doctor. He put me on low dose thyroid medication and my husband on Clomid for low testosterone. My AMH and hormones were really good for my age. The doctor also prescribed fertility meds for me but I've only done two rounds of Clomid (one for the hormone test and one round a few months ago). My husband's sperm count increased but the quality decreased to the point that they were recommending IVF with ICSI.
In June 2016 we had gained some weight back and decided to try a ketogenic diet. I got down to 235# and leveled off but it also cured my fibromyalgia. My husband got down to 385#.
I had accepted around age 34 that I would never get married or have children so I have just been happy to have a wonderful man in my life, but it made me sad because he wanted a baby so badly. A few months ago we had a conversation and he was really wanting to go all out and do IVF. I felt the financial strain would be too much and wanted to trust in God. Shortly after that conversation they had a video in church about infertility/adoption and it was pretty emotional. We were invited to the front for prayer and I think it gave him some peace to know that God really is in control. Now just a few weeks later and we have our first ever BFP! I didn't test until 18-19 DPO because I fasted quite a bit this cycle (for the first time ever, also got my weight under 230#) and thought maybe it messed up my cycle. But I'm usually super regular so I finally bought a test and tested at 3 AM because I couldn't wait until morning! I pray that God will protect this little one. All the glory goes to Him!
I have not used ovulation tests for the last few months because I've always felt when I am ovulating and decided to trust my body and God. I had ovulation pain on one side January 7 (we BD'd that night) and the other side January 8 (usually I only have it on one side). I got up and put my pajamas on right after so it definitely isn't necessary to lay there lol. My husband usually takes at least 3-4 days to "recharge" so we really only get one chance per month.
I've definitely had increased appetite and have been taking naps (usually I can't nap even if exhausted). The last few days my chest has hurt a bit more than usual but not enough that I thought it was a sign. I have had minor cramping and kept thinking I was going to start my period any minute. Also my cat has been laying with me a lot this last week and she normally only lays with my husband. That was really unusual!
