Early Pregnancy Symptoms and Big Fat Positives
BFP, 2nd IUI w injectables, 36yo, TTC x 2 years!
I was so shocked this morning to finally get my first BFP!
My husband and I have been trying for 2 years. Currently, our diagnosis is unexplained infertility. We went through initial testing about a year ago. Everything looked good so we were told to keep trying for another 6 months. We went through 4 monitored cycles, 2 with clomid, 1 with follistim=BFN. Then we did our first IUI with follistim=BFN. Our RE recommended one last IUI with follistim before proceeding to IVF. That was our lucky cycle!!
I was actually so sick on Wednesday with nausea/diarrhea. I made it through work, came home and fell asleep. I woke up that night and threw up. I barely got out of bed for the next 36 hours. I did take a pregnancy test Wednesday (14dpiui) and it was negative. I was sure I just had the stomach flu as I had chills also. SO this morning (16dpiui) was my beta and I was supposed to call my RE if my period hadn't started. I had barely drank anything in 2 days other than a small amount of 7up and decided I would take a pregnancy test so that I would be mentally prepared for the negative blood test. Well maybe my urine was more concentrated bc I was dehydrated, but this morning at 16dpiui I got my first ever BFP!
I was actually wearing a pad since Monday bc I was cramping like my period was going to start. I was also speaking with our IVF dr's nurse and she had sent in a RX for bcps for me to start on day 3 of my next cycle. We had all of my IVF dates mapped out and I was securing financial resources to pay for IVF. We are completely shocked.
Here is what I did differently this cycle (could be a coincidence) but I am sharing in case this would help someone else.
-Started seeing a different acupuncturist. Saw her the week before IUI, the day of my second IUI, and the week after my IUI. I also followed the personal recommendations she gave me which included warm foot soaks, eating cooked foods and warm beverages as opposed to raw foods and iced beverages (I didn't follow this perfectly, but tried my best). She also told me to take guaifenesin 200mg 3x per day from cycle day 9-16 for better cervical mucus.
-drank pom juice 1/2-1 cup every day before ovulation
-barely ate any pineapple in 2ww...couldn't stomach it
-"this is possible" became my mantra. I wrote it in my day planner so I would see it every day.
- had a Reiki session the week before my IUI. The practitioner suggested journaling about my relationship with my mother and my worries about being a mother. So I did. She gave me some stones to promote fertility and she suggested I sleep with them in my pillow case. So I did.
- I smudged our house at the beginning of the cycle
- I listened to circle and bloom's daily meditations for IUI/IVF (google it)
-I did not work out for 5 days after my IUI. I stopped running completely. And in the 2ww I stuck to restorative yoga, walking, and light weights only.
-I stopped eating gluten on 1/22/16 which was 3 days before my IUI
-Started taking CoQ10 supplements in October (for good egg quality)
-Decreased caffeine to <100mg per day and mostly drank organic matcha green tea
-I also started eating more mindfully/intuitively..I have a history of disordered eating which I am mostly recovered from. Decided to tackle the remaining issues recently.
-refused to call myself "infertile"
-prayed prayed and prayed some more!!
