Early Pregnancy Symptoms and Big Fat Positives

BFP first cycle off birth control pills!

I stalked this site pretty hard during my tww and wanted to return the favor to others TTC. DH and I talked about ttc, so I never started a new BCP pack after my last WB (21/3-26/3). We BD'd as usual, but I did do a few OPKs to get an idea of when O would be, which turned out not to be helpful.

CD12: temp drop, -OPK, double-over gas pains (with no gas); suspected O
CD13: 0.5 degree temp rise
CD14: oily skin, cervix remained open, creamy CM
CD15: open cervix, creamy CM, BD
No crosshairs on FF at this point, just the dotted line on CD12
This is where things started getting weird. I started feeling AWFUL. I was nauseous, very pale, no appetite. I could barely stand without passing out. I work out every day and could barely do anything at the gym without fainting. Very strong metallic taste. This lasted from CD16 to CD19. At the time, I thought that maybe I had ovulated much earlier and was experiencing very early symptoms. In retrospect, I believe my body tried to ovulated on CD12, but was unsuccessful. I felt awful due to the rapid fluctuations in hormones during this week. I started getting EWCM again on CD17, which continued through CD21. I brushed this off because I thought I surely had already O'd (I didn't even do any OPKs even though I had them). We BDd on CD18 just by chance (99% positive this is when we caught the egg). Anyways..
CD17: EWCM, bad headache
CD18: (tmi) huge glob of EWCM after workout, BD, Quick pinching sensations in pelvis
CD19: temp 96.9, woke up with sore right armpit/side BB, more EWCM, very mild cramps and a bit moody later in the day (I think I actually O'd this day)
1DPO: Felt out this cycle because any "symptoms" I had disappeared, quit temping, watery CM
2DPO: (tmi) a lot of white-ish stretchy CM-- similar to EWCM in consistency but white (had never before experienced this), Good skin, boobs not sore but slightly bigger (they had literally shrunk after stopping my BCPs).
3DPO: pressure in pelvic region (similar to the sensation of my inguinal hernia), feel like a UTI or yeast infection is coming
4DPO: decided to take my temp this am 97.6! This is what initially made me realize when I had truly O'd.
5DPO: temp 97.6, very HOT all day- was sweaty at work all day, left pelvic twinges, nipples looked different
6DPO: cervix very sensitive- felt bruised or something (never experienced it to this extent), skin good, very mild cramping, nipples take on a more cone-shaped appearance and BBs heavier, skin more oily
7DPO: very mild cramping, cervix hurt while BDing- shock like feeling, creamy CM, very emotional which is very unlike me
8DPO: LIGHTNING CROTCH- holy crap. Happened while I was at work and stopped me in the middle of a sentence! Never had experienced this before. Started getting a warm feeling in my stomach- sorry I don't know how else to explain it (probably from progesterone) At this point, I knew I was pregnant. I just felt different. I took a FRER stark white BFN, which didn't even upset me because I knew it was wrong
9DPO: Nothing in the am, tried to wait until 10DPO to test but caved in the afternoon and vvvv faint positive- was not remotely surprised. Full feeling in pelvic region and just feeling different. Very emotional, nauseous, tired and bloated later in the day.
10DPO: Tested with FRER- BFP, still emotional
11DPO (today): Had to cut my workout short due to very mild cramping and fatigue.

Since I'm not sure when exactly I O'd, my DPO timeline could be off by a couple days.

At this point, my BBs look the same as they were 6DPO and and feel 10x better in general than I did CD16-19. Something I noticed is I feel like I spent way more time symptom spotting before I could have possibly had symptoms. Sometime around 5DPO I quit looking up symptoms, etc because I just felt different and started experiencing things that were totally unfamiliar to me. I feel like everyone is different and someone else might experience a pregnancy symptom that is a normal PMS symptom for you, and vise versa. The things that tipped me off were things that were new to me (sore cervix, lighting crotch, nipples). I wouldn't completely rely on any single means of determining O. However, cervical mucous was the single best predictor of fertility in my case. In the future I will invest in digital OPKs as the cheap ones are impossible to interpret. I hope this helps!

Ps. Although I wasn't shocked when I got my BFP, I am extremely surprised that we got pregnant the first cycle. My heart goes out to those that aren't as lucky. I will have my fingers crossed for you. GL!

Holy cow you ARE lucky! First go-round after the pill?! High 5! Congratulations and thanks for this very well written account, it was a pleasure to read!

One of the most frustrating things for those questioning a potential pregnancy comes from the reality that many of the symptoms of pregnancy can be associated with a pending menstruation or tension or stress. If you have been sexually active and trying to determine if you are pregnant, contact your doctor. Unfortunately, many of these signs and symptoms aren't unique to pregnancy. Some can indicate that you're getting sick or that your period is about to start. Likewise, you can be pregnant without experiencing many of these symptoms. Still, if you miss a period and notice some of the above signs or symptoms. Take a home pregnancy test or see your health care provider. If your home pregnancy test is positive. Make an appointment with your health care provider. The sooner your pregnancy is confirmed, the sooner you can begin prenatal care.
