Early Pregnancy Symptoms and Big Fat Positives
Finally a BFP with gonadotropins
My husband and I conceived our first born 3 years ago without much trouble. 3 months after stopping birth control pill I was pregnant so 18 months ago when we decided to try again for bub number 2 I didn't think it would be difficult.
I was wrong. I've always had a longer cycle of about 6 weeks and we are getting older. I heard that if you don't conceive after 6 months from 35 (i'm 36 & hubby is 38) onwards you should seek help. So of to the gp I went and that was just the beginning of the waiting game.
It took 4 months to get a referral to a gynae then we had to do 3 tracking cycles which showed I ovualte late. We then tried two rounds of clomid which made my uterine lining too thin for implantation.
After a break for christmas and waiting again I had a lap & dye to check for any tube blockages and other possible problems and got the all clear but the dr confirmed, as she had expected, PCOS. I had to wait again before we could start the next step which was low dose gonadotropin injections & timed intercourse. The first one failed due to a thin lining but here we are with a BFP after our second round.
I've had so many let downs in the two week wait when I thought it had happened but it hadn't I didn't want to get my hopes up. I had been taking a hpt to prep myself for another fail but a faint line appeared. I still wasn't convinced as I had a trigger shot to induce ovulation and this contains hcg so can give a false positive but the following day (12 dpo) it was still positive and darker than before. I went for blood that day which confirmed I'm pregnant!
I really didn't have any pregnancy symptoms but I noticed that I wasn't getting salt cravings or higher sex drive like I usually do before a period so to those without any signs there is still hope!
The month I got pregnant I used everything. Presseed lube, evening primrose oil and cough syrup to thin mucus, no caffeine, Vitamin E to boost lining and I tried to have fruit and veg at every meal especially green leafy veggies. Who knows what did it in the end but I'm just so happy we finally made it here. I'm hoping and praying that the next 9 months goes smoothly.
