Early Pregnancy Symptoms and Big Fat Positives

Honeymoon Baby!

Hello! I just turned 27 earlier this month, and my husband just turned 31 later in the month. We have been together for five years, we were engaged for a year, and just tied the knot on May 5th! We have been antsy to become parents for awhile, but had no idea a BFP would show its face so quickly. Believe me, we count ourselves extremely lucky and fortunate, and are keeping our fingers crossed for the best possible outcome!

First day of LMP - Monday April 30th
Our wedding day - Saturday May 5th
Ovulation day - May 15th
DTD - quite a bit as newlyweds on our honeymoon! Our last day of DTD was Sunday May 13th (Mother's Day).

2 DPO - Awful awful awful allergy attack. I have not had an allergy attack like that in years, and it did not respond to any allergy medicine. I noticed that as odd, but didn't think too much of it.

3 DPO - Exhausted and slightly nauseated. I blamed the exhaustion on finally settling down after a major allergy attack day, our wedding, and honeymoon travels. Nausea was off and on and very very light, almost unnoticeable.

4 DPO - Indigestion, which is very rare for me. I never felt heartburn really, and no stomach/bm issues... just what I called "irpy". I felt like I needed to burp a lot and it burned. Light nausea continued to be off and on.

6 DPO - Bought a Diet Coke from the vending machine at work and it was GROSS! I love Diet Coke, especially as I approach my AF time, but I was not havin' it this evening! The flavor was dulled, and tasted more like carbonated water with some kind of chemicals in it.

7 DPO - Started having vivid dreams that seemed very maternal and instinctual...protective! My most vivid dream was about a snake getting into our home and I had to protect myself and our two small dogs (who are my babies!).

8 DPO - Felt like I was seeing and hearing "baby" things. I got in my car and turned the radio on and started to look for a station, and as I scanned stations that were playing commercials or had DJ's talking, I heard the words "baby", "mom", "rattle", "future", and then "pregnant". All on different stations! Later that night, I was driving a canyon road home from work and saw a baby coyote running along the side of the road. Although I am sure its family was nearby, it made me sad to see it alone and I cried.

9 DPO - THE BIG SIGN: I was at work (evening job) and in the middle of my boring work routine I felt a feeling start up in what I assume was my uterus. It wasn't a cramp, it was more of a feeling of pressure, or a slight pinch. It showed up that night and it has never gone away. Also that night at work, I felt like someone had turned the heater on. I was warm, when I am usually cool at work and need a light cover-up. That night, I thought there was a sliver of a chance that the feeling I felt was implantation cramping. The "cramp" (that doesn't feel like a cramp, just pressure) has remained constant. Also, I should note that this feeling arrived on the right side and has stayed there. Not high up, not painful, just kinda... there. Coincidentally, this night was also my husband's birthday!

10 DPO - I went to the grocery store and was drawn to the bananas. Normally, I can't stand bananas! I bought bananas and avocados, and that day I had one of each, along with a nectarine and an apple. Considering it was a few days before my AF, I took this as a great sign of possible conception! As my AF normally approaches, I don't just like chocolate... I NEED it. I crave it and find it and consume it, along with extra caffeine (Diet Coke and coffee) and salty bad-for-me foods. So a day of wanting only fruit was great! My "cramp" remained constant and dull and light. Also on this day, my left breast started to get sore. I do not usually get nipple sensitive or breast tenderness before AF is due (or ANY time) so this was new to me. Wearing normal shirts and bras has been fine, only hurts when I touch to check. :-)

11 DPO - Avocado and banana love continued, breast tenderness increased. We went out with friends, and one met us at our home. She had no idea we were TTC immediately and hadn't heard any symptoms, but upon seeing me, she told me I was *glowing*. :-) Exhaustion continued! Decided to take a HPT and it was a BFN. :-(

12 DPO - Same "cramp" continued, breast tenderness continued (mostly in areola), and so tired! Another BFN! :-( Started to convince myself that AF was definitely coming.

13 DPO - BFN in the morning. Cramp remains the same, although sometimes gets more intense if I have been moving and up and about a lot. Rest is the best! Continuing to eat avocados and bananas (and other healthy foods), still exhausted. I planned to go to grocery store to get a few things to add to our Memorial Day bbq, and as I got up and was about to leave, I informed my husband that I felt a little...weak. Slightly light-headed. I bought First Response HPT, which we had not tried before. Another biggie for me... I walked past the seafood department, which normally grosses me out (the smell, although I love the taste of it all!), and on this day it did not bother me much at all. Actually inspired me to buy some seafood dip (with seafood safe for preggers!) and I came home.... made myself wait to take the test so I wasn't hugely disappointed immediately. I ate some of the dip with some pita chips, another nectarine, and then decided to test. A faint faint faint line showed up, but it was definitely there!!!!!! BFP!

14 DPO - Another faint line, but darker than the previous day's. Symptoms continue! A headache set in and lasted until I went to sleep. I assume it is from quitting caffeine. :-( Cramp now feels more like a stretch, and gas pains set in on my left side. Ahhh gas pains. My least favorite symptom so far! Went to clinic because my dr won't see me yet, and dr confirmed I am 4 weeks and one day, due on Feb 4th. She reassured me and my symptoms and I felt like it became more official.

Today I am 15 DPO and took one more test this morning because I want one with a nice solid line (for photos, to keep, I don't know yet!), and sure enough, the line is darker! Today is when my AF should have been due, and the dr assured me that the line will get darker as my HCG levels go up. She was amazed that I knew so early and was now waiting to miss my AF date. :-)

So exciting! We are having fun coming up with announcement plans to our families. I wish nothing but the best of luck and patience and plenty of distractions for all who are TTC!
