Early Pregnancy Symptoms and Big Fat Positives

Metformin miracle!

So excited to finally get to put my BFP story here!

First, a little background. My husband I decided to start trying for our rainbow in December of 2016. I had my IUD removed and was so excited to get started. Unfortunately, I've always had extremely irregular cycles, and in all of 2016 I only ended up having 4 very long cycles, with only 2 of them being ovulatory. After trying so many different methods and supplements to regulate my cycle on my own, I finally went to the doctor after a full year of trying. I was pretty quickly diagnosed with PCOS (which explained A LOT) and presribed Metformin. I was skeptical that the Metformin alone would get me ovulating, but my first cycle after I started taking it I not only ovulated, but relatively on time (CD 21)! Unfortunately, that cycle didn't end up with a BFP, but the very next cycle did! Here's a rundown of my symptoms leading to the BFP:

CD 28: O day. It was a little later than I would like, but at least I O'd!
1-3 DPO: Usual post O symptoms, cramping, a little tired, sore breasts (very normal TWW symptom for me)
4-6 DPO: Lots of strange cramps and twinges, some sharp stabbing pains
7 DPO: Still feeling my usual TWW symptoms, feeling very thirsty and very bloated
8 DPO: Took an HPT in the AM, knowing it was way too early but swear I see a very faint line. Eventually chalk it up to being an indent. Feeling very thirsty and very frequent urination - both of which are unusual for me. Breasts very sore and swollen, more than normal.
9-10 DPO: Feels like my breasts have grown a cup size. BFN's both days, which was a big let down after the faint line on 8 DPO. Counted myself out for the cycle and feeling very defeated. Still extremely thirsty and using the restroom a lot!
11 DPO: Took an HPT in the morning, and there was the faintest of lines. I was skeptical of it because it was an internet cheapie strip and I'd already been let down by the indent line a few days before. Starting to feel more hopeful though. Breasts are extremely sore and huge, very thristy, constantly feel like I need to pee. Very tired, although that's not unusual for me right before AF, not having much of an appetite and can't finish dinner, that was very strange.
12 DPO: Faint but definitely there BFP! I still didn't trust the cheapie strips so I bought a FRER on my lunch break and again, a faint but for sure there pink line! I couldn't believe it! Still tired and thirsty, very big and sore breasts, still don't have much of an appetite.
13 DPO- Now: Darker lines on the HPT's, starting to feel pregnant now.

Really the only symptoms during my TWW that were different than normal were being thirsty, frequent urination, and the loss of appetite. My biggest piece of advice would be to not wait to see the doctor if you're having very irregular or absent periods. I probably would have had that BFP a lot sooner had I gotten help earlier. There's a lot of information floating around about "miracle" supplements for PCOS and infertility and maybe they work for some, but really, if you're missing cycles you need to see a doctor who can help you find out why!

Comments

Hi Ladies.. was hoping for some encouragement. So I have come down on my weight, been ovulating on my own thought this month my period is late, I am extremely bloated for three weeks now, no cramping, had creamy milky discharge. Been trying for a while now so hoping for some good results! Is it normal to feel no cramps? I can eat a meal but still feel hungry, my tummy is so tight. I can't stop looking at it. Something just feels different.
