Hi, I’m Amy. I’m 38 and my DH (who's 50 - yes, I married a grouchy old man but I love him) and I are ttc our first…finally. We’ve been married for almost 4 years. Shortly after we got married, we decided we were ready, but then I was pretty severely overweight with type II diabetes and the more stuff I learned, the more worried I became about complications. And everyone told me if I could lose enough weight, I might be able to resolve my diabetes symptoms and I’d have a much healthier, easier pregnancy. Well, after trying with good old diet and exercise, I had gastric bypass surgery. My bariatric surgeon requires you to wait one year after the surgery before ttc, so we did. I’ve lost 90 pounds (still losing a little but pretty much leveled off), I’m off all diabetes medications and I’ve talked to my OB/GYN and the surgeon and everybody says I’m good to go. So January was our first "official" month of trying!
