| ABOUT ME |
Hi! My husband and I are TTC baby #1! I recently
turned 29 and my DH is 29. I came off the pill in
June 2007 after taking it for 10 years.
I made an appointment with my OBGYN that July, and
it turned out I was just about to ovulate. My
lining was great (8mm I believe), and I actually
had a mature follicle on each ovary, so the NP
told me we could actually conceive twins if I were
to get pregnant that month, although, we were
running out of time as she suspected I might
ovulate literally at any minute. Nevertheless, we
BD’d the next few days. We didn’t count July
as our official start month for TTC as we started
late in the game that month. So, August 2007 was
when we really began “trying.” I was very
hopeful and excited to start the process.
We had no luck for the first four months TTC, and
every month, I was having terrible cramps. Due to
the cramps and family history, my OBGYN suspected
endometriosis.
Before performing a laparoscopy, my OBGYN wanted
to first check my husband’s reproductive health
to rule that out as the culprit. To our
excitement, my husband passed his tests with
flying colors, so we went along with the surgery.
After my laparoscopy in December 2007, my
OBGYN’s diagnosis was confirmed: Stage 2/Mild
Endometriosis. The good news was that my tubes
were clear when he performed the dye test,
although one was just slightly delayed. The
lesions and cysts on my ovaries caused by the
endometriosis were removed. His plan was to take
an “aggressive” approach for the next six
months after the lap, before the endometriosis
returned.
After the surgery, my husband and I were very
optimistic, and I was so relieved to not have to
go through that pain every month (at least, not
for the next six months or so). In fact, I even
thought of the diagnosis as a good thing… As
long as we knew what it was, we could fix the
problem. My worst fear was and still is being
diagnosed with unexplained infertility. I have
watched several friends go through that, and it is
a disheartening process to say the very least.
My OBGYN suspected I would be pregnant within
three months post-lap…
Unfortunately, that didn't happen. We are now
seeing a fertilty specialist who we love so far.
