Title: Update: ectopic scare (long)

Blog Entry: I wanted to give you all an update on what happened over the weekend. I had mentioned in my last blog that I was having pains in my left ovary that led me to suspect that I might be having an ectopic pregnancy. I got some very encouraging and supportive comments from a lot of people, but I decided to go to the doctor anyway.
I went to an urgent care clinic that didn't have an ultrasound, so they sent me to get bloodwork done. I went Saturday morning and Sunday morning to get my progesterone and Beta levels checked. When the results came in, I was in the middle of a concert. I found out at intermission that they weren't rising like they should, so I had to play the whole rest of the concert fighting off tears!! They said it might be ectopic, and I should get an ultrasound right away.
Needless to say, it was one of the worst days ever!! I was supposed to have a surprise party for DH's 40th birthday that night, so under the circumstances, I told him about it and I also let the guests know what was going on. It was great to see friends.
I just got back from my ultrasound and....the baby is in my uterus and we saw a heartbeat!! We're so excited! The pain I was feeling (am feeling, it's getting worse) is an ovarian cyst. I guess it's the corpus luteum that keeps the baby going until I have a placenta.
