My First Journey to Motherhood

Firstly some background.

It was the evening of Saturday 1st June 2013 and my partner and I had the discussion about starting a family. We had had many discussions before but until now, neither of us felt ready. So that night, we dtd and the next morning I stopped my bc. I had been taking Cerazette for nearly 2 years, and microgynon30 and another combined pill (name I can't remember) for the previous 12 years. I'm 32 (33 this year) and my other half (OH) is 34.

Since stopping the pill, we have dtd every day, sometimes twice a day. Yesterday we had a day off, due to me being overly emotional because I forgot to take my other medication. This other medication however, I will be talking to my GP about tomorrow (12th June) as it's for panic attacks and anxiety and I'm not sure if it will harm a baby during pregnancy. It's called Citalopram and I'm currently taking 30mg of it. There are conflicting discussions about this medication all over the internet, but even the leaflet that comes with it, states that although it can cause problems 24 hours after birth, (but nothing serious that cannot be managed), there is not a requirement to stop it completely.

So tomorrow, I will hear what the GP has to say about it all. Probably get poked with needles (not fun) and so on. Fingers crossed it goes well.

This morning I received many packages too! Excited I open them to find my new BBT thermometer

and Chart to track it all. Should be interesting. I've not had an AF since being on Cerazette so I have no idea about my cycles. I got some cheapy OV sticks as well to try and track it too. So shall start all this tomorrow morning.

I also have my prenatal vitamins that also arrived this morning. They are Bellybar Prenatal Chewable Vitamins (I'm terrible at swallowing tablets) so these seem ideal.

Containing Folic Acid, Iron, Calcium, as well as vitamin A (as beta-carotene), vitamin D, E, B-6, B-12, Zinc, Niacin, Thiamin and Riboflavin. Would I need to take anything else with these? Let me know if I do!

So this is the start of my journey. Fingers crossed baby dust is sprinkling my way soon!

Current Symptoms (if any)

So since coming off Cerazette I shall note down all the symptoms so far. As far as I'm aware, these can be side effects of coming off this mini pill for some, but could also be pregnancy symptoms. Every woman is different, and I've read so many horror stories about coming off this pill, how it can affect fertility, screw up your cycles and so on, yet others have no problems at all. Hopefully it's just an individual thing and nothing to do with these pills.

So since Monday 3rd June - 10th June I have had:

Headaches on and off every day.

Cramping (like PMS cramps but not AF.... yet) every day, ugh!

Feeling tired (last few days even more so and going to bed early :( )

Having to put 2 sweeteners in my tea because my usual 1 tastes horrible!

Pinching feelings in stomach.

Boobs look a little darker (no pain or soreness though) but it comes and goes (weird). The OH noticed this, not me.

Slight nausea as though I feel like I need to eat more.

Going to the loo more, but nothing major.

Since 9th June horrible leg pain on left leg (back of thigh) and aching hips. I do however suffer from Sciatica on and off so this could just be normal for me though I don't know what I've done to cause it!

Anyhoo, updates on my new BBT chart will follow tomorrow, as well as continuing symptoms. And hopefully an update about my GP appointment! :D

So had my GP visit. Seems I am ok to be on Citalopram but I'm being dropped to 20mg to see how I can cope. If not, I'll go up again. She tells me it's one of the safer anti-depressants to be on whilst pregnant anyway. Explained symptoms to her and she agrees that it could be side - effects for coming off cerazette or possible (but unlikely) pregnancy symptoms. I now have to wait another 3 weeks to see if I get AF or do a HPT. Otherwise she told us to DTD every other day and try for a couple of months and see what happens. :) The rash apparently seems to be just burst blood vessels in my arm, but was told to keep an eye on it. I'll continue to track my cycles to see what happens in the meantime and any/continuing symptoms.  So now, I just have to relax and enjoy it!  Babydust to all!
