at your next prenatal can you ask about pulsox ?

I am curious to hear about how it is at other hospitals etc. I would love to hear your comment. As a mom to a son who was born with a congenital heart defect, the most common occurring birth defect, affecting aprox 1 in 100 babies, I like to see any testing done that could potential detect this.

Some hospitals make it mandatory, some don't do it. There are 7 states that have made it mandatory.

Pulse oximetry is used standardly in medicine to check oxygen saturation and has been found to be effective in screening for congenital heart defects.

There is debate in the medical community about it, as some believe it is not accurate, not enough research, etc. You can visit babyheartscreening.com as well to read about it.

Thanks !
