Healthy Snacking !

So recently my hunger has really kicked in. I can't go more than 2-3 hours until I need another snack or my next meal . I'm really trying to keep in mind like they say being pregnant is not an excuse to "eat for 2" but I also can't just not listen to my body when baby is needing food .

I want start a thread of not cravings, but healthy snacks that we can share or suggest to keep our sugar levels, proteins , yada yada on check. Not that I don't mind sharing my cravings but, one day I read someone having a craving for a whopper with mustard and cheese and pickles ... You know what I ended up doing soon after ?... I went to Burger King and had a whopper with everything ... Made it a double of all things ! :oops:

Meals should be more well balanced of course, but the in between "snacks" can be our downfall, so hopefully this topic gets the ball rolling and keeps us on check.

I also will be starting a thread for anyone who wants to join in doing prenatal workouts / yoga DVDs and keep each other motivated, fit & toned through this pregnancy journey .

So tonight I had steamed sweet potato with i can't believe it's not butter, salt and pepper ... It was heaven !! Picture might make a couple of you get nauseous if so .. Sorry !

Anyone else want to join me ?!

I've been hitting butternut squash rather hard. And kale chips.

Hehe Honey, guilty the whopper was me with extra ketchup :) I've cut out the junk may indulge in a cookie or something once in a while but otherwise trying to find some healthy snacks too...sweet potatoes were my thing a few weeks ago now I'm loving applesauce or granola bars that have yogurt inside also mandarin oranges

I've never tried kale chips ! I do enjoy kale salad though. But that sounds really good too!

1daysoon. That was you !? Haha yeah that day I felt pretty guilty . But once in a while those are soo good . Plus DH split it with me. I've got some protein bars I snack on at night when I get hungry before bed .

Haha yeah I won't lie it tasted soooo good but that's it no more whoppers for me...oh yea I've got some protein bars at work too I usually need a snack around 3...another good snack is trail mix I'm going to buy some tomorrow!

I really like to do baby carrots dipped in peanut butter if I want something kinda sweet. Just be careful as peanut butter adds up quick!

I've been making at least one smoothie or juice a day. At least a cup of organic greens (spinach, kale, dandelion greens, etc), add some fresh and frozen fruits like pineapple, banana, apple, peach, really whatever...I haven't found a bad combo yet, add a little honey, ice, and then either fruit juice, milk (cows, almond, coconut) sometimes yogart, and I always add ground Chia seeds. Deliciousness! It's so packed full of nutrients and it's really helping me get at least one to two servings of greens a day bc I've been slacking majorly on the salads as they're just not that appealing at all so far during this pregnancy.

P.S. Honeybunny, that sweet potato looks so delicious right about now. Just a tip though, don't use imitation butter spreads, they're full of hydrogenated oils and bad stuff...it's better to just use the real thing butter even though it has a few extra calories (real butter has good fats at least)
I'm so craving a sweet potato now though yummmm!

Since I'm pregnant I always crave soups! (mainly chicken soup for some mysterious reason)
I always drink them as a snack, it's healthy and keeps me hydrated.
