how many kids are you planning on having?

Postby tryingnumber3 » Sat Dec 27, 2014 12:25 pm

When we were first together, we planned on having 5. Right now I am on number 3 and depending on how that goes think I will have one more so #3 has someone close to them. 1 and 2 are 2.5 years apart. While my youngest will be almost 5 by the time baby #3 is here. What is everyone else's ideas on family size? Dh is number 8 of 9 and I have 4 older and 2 younger half siblings.

I have a 6.5 year old, 3 year old and one that will be 2 on this baby's due date. All dds, expecting a boy this time. My daughter's are all so close and the best of friends...they're always looking out for each other and thinking about each other...it melts my heart!♡♡
I always wanted 6 children but my dh says this is definitely our last :( it makes me sad to think this is probably our last baby and my last pregnancy. I'm not getting my tubes tied, even though that's what a lot of my family members suggest I do... I'm hoping that dh will eventually come around and warm up to another one at some point...hopefully within the next 3 years ;) I'm only 27 so we've got time but it's nice to have them so close in age...even if it's chaotic and crazy and sometimes a struggle. I just love my big family and hope it continues to grow even more :)

I don't know. Things have not gone as I'd hoped lol. It took 2 years to conceive my son and 5 years to conceive this baby. I wanted my kiddos around 2 years apart. I don't know how hard it would be to get pregnant again but I'm currently Ok with the idea of having a third if my body cooperates.

Well we both come from big families. DH is one of 8 and we've always talked about the # Its somewhere around 4-6 haha.. Crazy I know but we can afford them, and I just love the idea of a big supportive family. We are planning to start trying as soon as this little one is due. Call me crazy but I just cant do the whole waiting game after we decide to start ttc. So the sooner we get on it the better. Thankfully we are on the same boat.

For me, the gap between my first 2 is perfect. Dd1 was 2.5 and potty trained, so I didn't have two in diapers at the same time. I kind of feel bad about this large gap to have number 3. I kept pushing it off. If we do have number 4. I want to start ttc when number 3 is 1.

Ibgoehefam, I hope dh comes around. Yeah I just turned 25 so we still have time. I like close ages though.

Fairy, it's hard when it doesn't happen as fast as you want. I thought I was going to get pregnant immediately this time just like before, which is another reason why I kept putting it off. But of course it didn't happen that way.

honey, i understand. Dh and the 2 brothers next to him are 26, 25, and 24 so they are all very close compared to their relationships with the way older ones. If you can handle it then go for it! The kids' relationships will be great and it's a few crazy years for you.

i said i wanted 4 then the twins came and we thought we were done. then baby fever kicked in and i wanted another. the twins will be 5 when this one is born. depending on how well this pregnancy goes, i may want another or i may completely shut the factory down. haha. i come from a family of 2 and my brother is 10 yrs older than me so i wanted more than 2 kids. dh comes from a family of 5. his family gatherings are always way more fun!

Omg honey bunny you guys will try to conceive as soon as this one is due hehe that is super awesome.. Good for you guys.. I have a friend that is 27 n has 6 kids she had them back to back she gave birth n literally 3-4 months later IM PREGNANT they are so happy with all there kiddos they sure are a big happy family I love it. Good luck girlie I'm jealous... If I could afford it then I would of had like 5 by now too lol I love big family's.

Trying my little one will also be 2.5yrs when this baby comes.. I'm a bit scared because when I had her my oldest was 5 in school..and It was very easy.. So don't worry about the gap.. My big one loves my baby sooooo much he's so much older he's happy to be big brother n do everything for her.. And even the 5 yr gap they are so close

B, that makes me feel a little better about it. Dd1 will be 7 and dd2 will be almost 5. I love the 2.5 year age gap between my girls. I just imagine they are going to fight over the baby. Like who gets to get diapers or pass other stuff to me.

I love the idea of a big family, as DH just has a sister and I'm an only surviving child, so our children's extended family will be quite small. But, with our particular circumstances, I just don't think it is the best thing for us, so I think we are planning on 2 right now. Ideally, I'd love to space my children 3 years apart and be done having kids by age 35. We'll see if that happens, lol. I turn 31 this summer, so I feel time a-tickin! Right now, just focused on getting through this pregnancy :)

I'm from a family of 3 and hated being in the middle so I always said 2 or 4. 4 seems like a lot though and after experiencing postpartum, I can't imagine going through it that many times. I think it will be a while before my lady bits are ready for sex let alone another pregnancy so hopefully we can try again when this guy is a year or so old. Fx it wont take another 2 years to conceive for number 2.

DH tells me i got twice what he promised me with the twins lol It took so long and so much intervention to get to where i am now... i feel guilty wasting the whole 'you're at your most fertile' time... but Dh is definite about not wanting anymore (he has 4 now) and it's true i always said i'd be happy to have just one child, so getting the twins was a double blessing, but i can't help thinking i'd love to be pregnant again and maybe just one more...

DH originally said 2, 3 tops. I've always thought 3. That being said, this pregnancy has been beyond rough, so either this babe will end up an only child, or we will probably wait a few years before trying for another.

Shells it just might be a responce after babies being born recently. My husband told me no more after Andrew and it took him a year to reconsider. His number was ten when we first married and mine was five, so glad that he let it happen just once more!

But ladies if their is sadness in your heart don't tie your tubes yet or throw in the towel. I couldn't do it last pregnancy but now I fully accept we are done and I am ready for extreme measures with no regrets!!
