to eat tuna melt or not

Postby tryingnumber3 » Thu Jan 15, 2015 12:20 pm

So I have really been wanting a tuna melt. I have been reading so much conflicting information online about if it's safe or not. With my other pregnancies, I never ate fish at all. My ob said I could even eat tempura rolls if I wanted to, so I think I will just make myself a tuna melt. Lol. I feel conflicted about it, but it sounds so good and I am only going to eat one...idk...

Go for it! I've had fish all of this pregnancy... including cooked sushi (California, crunchy shrimp, eel, etc).

Thanks! I just made one and it was awesome! Couldn't finish it all, but definitely glad I ate it.

Even before, I really preferred the cooked rolls I guess. Dh and I refer to them as hot vs cold rolls. lol. That's why he hates going with me since we go to all you can eat and he likes cold rolls and I like the hot ones. I end up ordering too much and he has to help me eat mine.
Lobster rolls are always a top favorite for me. Or the golden tiger.

Tuna in the can is fine. It's fresh tuna that has higher levels of mercury.

Just started craving tuna as well. Sushi has been the hardest thing for me about this pregnancy!! I miss it sooo much! I'm a big wine drinker and thought that would be the hardest but nope it's been sushi! I've been trying to satisfy my cravings by having cooked shrimp and cooked crab rolls but it's not nearly the same!!

I miss sushi, I miss beer, but nothing comes close to my craving for turkey sandwiches. I LOVE turkey...and roast beef and ham. Not really the deli meat you buy at the store, but I love going to a sandwich shop and buying a toasted turkey sandwich. I've decided as soon as I give birth, I'm sending DH or a family member/good friend out to get me a Jimmy Johns turkey sub.

Sigh...stupid listeria.

Oh my god, i'm right on the tuna at the moment.

Here in the uk the guideline is to limit yourself to 4 small tins per week. Just to be on the safe side, I would stay clear of the fresh steaks because of the higher mercury content.
