Amazing article about fetal cells living on in the mother!

Postby BeeCee33 » Sat Feb 21, 2015 9:53 pm

I read this article last year, before we were even TTC, but now that I'm expecting, it takes on a whole new level of meaning. It explains how fetal cells are found embedded in the brain of the mother after death. The higher the number of those fetal cells, the less likelyhood of Alzheimer's. Tests on rats suggest that some of these fetal cells from the developing baby are similar to stem cells and can generate into any type of cell, helping to regenerate damaged body parts after birth. Isn't it amazing that part of each baby you bear becomes part of you and lives on in you for the rest of your life? I imagine this would be an especially comforting thought for those of you who have lost little ones too soon. <3

That's incredible and shocking but since it's possible to determine sex at seven weeks using blood work, then I can see how Cells would find their way to brain.
Due Sept. 7th, 2015 carrying this miracle to term!!!

I had a read of this and I think it's beautiful. The thought that a part ofmy little boy lives on inside of me in a physical way is beautiful. My husband got quite upset. He wants a part of him to live on inside him too.

S4mm, I actually thought of you when I decided to post this here. I don't know Oscar's full story, but I could imagine losing a baby after getting to hold and snuggle them for 5 months. My thoughts while reading it were about how comforting it would be after losing a child. <3
