I go through phases of being super thirsty for ice cold water. Our blood volume increases so much plus replenishing the amniotic fluid all the time take a lot of liquid.

yeah thats makes sense, i was getting a little worried that something was wrong!! i think probably cos the midwife wants to test me for gestational diabetes atlater on in my pregnancy cos i have a slighter higher risk. probably just panicking over nothing as usual!

Extreme thirst is a sign of diabetes, but I think in pregnany it is normal. Mostly gd doesn't have many extra symptoms.

I've been super thirsty too. I just consider it another crazy thing happening with my body because of the pregnancy. Also, are you at higher risk for gestational diabetes if you have a family history of diabetes? Does one have anything to do with the other?

Gestational diabetes from what I learned working at an obgyn office is pretty random.

We would get big heavy ladies that would have a healthy pregnancy and little ladies with just a tummy have gest dia.

Extreme thirst and or eating lots of salt can be a sign.

You dont want to drink too much water because you will dilute your system and flush out all your vitamins etc.

I would call the doctor and explain your symptoms and ask how much water is too much?

On another note. I was super thirsty in 2010 and am now starting to get it. I think its normal for us to crave water cause our bodies will tell us what it needs. But what it needs isnt always a good thing.

Let us know how it goes!
