Global Billing for Insurance

Postby mrspettis » Wed Apr 08, 2015 10:19 am

WIth this being my first time having a baby, I have no clue how any of the Dr. visits billings are supposed to work. On my plan, I have $0 deductible, 0% co insurance and max out-of-pocket of $2000. My copay for specialists is $20 and for hospitals is $350. My Dr. office has told me that they bill through a global billing plan and that I would be billed at the end (minus what insurance pays). I have not had to pay anything for any of the visits so far, so I am wondering if I will be charged the $20 a visit at the end or something different. I have called my insurance company and they dont seem to understand my question. Have any of you had experience with this?

With my insurance, I only pay one $20 co-pay for OB visits for the entire pregnancy (and post-natal), so I paid once at the beginning and then don't have to pay for any other visits. My office does global billing, but since my visits, ultrasounds, and labs are all 100% covered, my global copay was only for the doctor's delivery charges. I would ask your doctor's office, as I'm sure your insurance company will be clueless. My doctor's office knew exactly how my insurance worked since they had to get the info from the company to do the global billing.

Thanks!! I will call them for sure. I was finally able to get someone on the phone with the insurance that sounded like they knew what they were talking about and it sounds like what you have described, but I am still going to call my Dr and make sure.

Your doctors office should be able to give you an estimation of costs.
