Floaters in vision..GD? pre E? Or hormonal?

Postby Artemis » Sun Aug 09, 2015 6:07 pm

Background: I'm just about 20 weeks. I'm a personal trainer/fitness instructor so I was extremely fit pre pregnancy and still am keeping up fitness at least 4x week. I eat very health consciously (with the occasional indulgence lol) and have not gained much weight at all yet (still a few lbs under pre pregnancy weight). My BP at each visit is excellent, 100s/60s. I have no medical history of family history of diabetes. Heart disease runs in my family on both sides, but not pre-e as far as I know.

I've experienced floaters in my vision 3 times now since my second tri, if I sit down and drink water it'll go away within 10 minutes. I've experienced migraines a few times in my adulthood and they start the same way with the vision disturbances so I keep thinking its a migraine since it makes my head hurt slightly but it's no where near as painful or lengthy as a migraine.

I know that despite being fit and healthy, both Pre E and GD is a possibility. I'm freaking out a little and hoping it's something different..ive read that extra protein build up from hormones in the eye fluid can cause floaters in pregnancy.

Any thoughts, experiences? I'll definitely be bringing this to my doctors attention when I see him again in 2 weeks!

I would probably call the nurse and mention it before your appointment. It could be nothing, but better safe. I get headaches like that occasionally (only once since getting pregnant, but I would say once a year since the end of high school). I would be concerned if it started happening more frequently though.

Fingers Crossed all is well!!! Hopefully you get more info soon, sorry I could not be of more help!
