Progesterone Suppositories and BD?

Postby chorse37 » Thu Mar 10, 2016 9:30 am

Aside from being kind of gross, I was wondering about how the leftovers from progesterone suppositories could affect our male partners. This was the only scientific article I could find and it made me kind of worried:

Has anyone talked to their doctor about this? What does everyone else do to protect their partners, if anything?

As far as I know the actual medication is completely absorbed within 15 minutes or so. The leftover (discharge) is just made up of all the oils and other substances that make up the actual suppository. So personally, I wouldn't be too concerned about the gross discharge getting on DH as long as I gave plenty of time for the progesterone to be absorbed. If you want to make sure he's 100% protected though, you could always use a condom.

This is just my personal opinion though. I never had an actual conversation about this with my midwife cause we were banned from having sex during most of the first trimester due to low progesterone and internal bleeding.
